The Town of Hull, MA is situated on a tiny spit of land extending out into Massachusetts Bay, attached to the "mainland" by a long sandy strand called Nantasket Beach. Nantasket is the closest "Wild Beach" to the Bustling City of Boston, whose beaches border right up to the City. During my childhood, Nantasket had a Wooden Roller Coaster, and Amusement Park, and a gorgeous Carousel featuring hand-carved horses and Calliope Music. Arcades and Honky-Tonks lined the boardwalk, and it was a miniature Coney Island for the people who lived South of Boston. (The North Shore had Revere Beach, and the Roller Coaster was owned by my Best Friend's Family, but THAT is a whole other story.)

The Carousel is still there, housed under a protective round shed, but the Amusement Park and Honky-Tonks have been replaced by Condos and Nice Restaurants. Several of them have Live Music, and so are favorites of Musicians who work on the South Shore.

The Town of Hull is further out in the North Atlantic, and boasts some Magnificent Mansions with Incredible Ocean Views.

Last Week, we had a terrible storm with Gale-Force Winds. Although the Storm was warm, it was immediately followed by a freezing wind, that iced over the already wet streets.

I have a Guitar Student who lives in one of the lovely Oceanfront homes, and I quipped as I entered:

"Well, it looks like Hull has Frozen Over!"

My student replied that the wind-driven rain had come in upstairs and caused a lot of damage. I asked if his Homeowners Insurance would cover it.

"Homeowners Insurance? We don't have it, because we've owned this house outright for years. When there's damage, we just fix it ourselves."

I couldn't imagine having that kind of money, not having to get a Mortgage or Homeowners Insurance, and not having to be concerned about paying for repairs to a house that had to withstand the full fury of the North Atlantic every Winter. It was beyond my experience and understanding. Oh well, I suppose one has to be financially secure in order to be able to afford private music lessons. If it weren't for Wealthy People, I wouldn't have a job.

Most people, when they say "My House" are speaking about the name on the Deed. However, if there is a Mortgage or Lien on the house, it's not really their own. The Bank is an Owner, as is the Holder of any Liens on the Property. The "owner" can't sell the house without satisfying the Mortgage and any other Liens on the Deed.

Even if a person owes nothing to the Bank, he still has to pay Taxes on "his" Property. My own Brother just said recently:

"I paid off the mortgage on this house YEARS ago, but it STILL costs a Fortune to live here."

Paul uses a phrase addressing Believers:

"You Are Not Your Own..."

This is in the Context of one being the Dwelling Place of The Holy Spirit, so it is analogous to my student whose House is "Paid For", but he still pays Taxes and Repairs as he sits perched on the edge of huge Ocean where the next bit of land is the Coast of Ireland.

Paul tells us we were "Bought With A Price". That Price is the Blood of Jesus, which is PRICELESS.

We have The Promise of Eternal Life (Blessed Assurance), and we don't have to struggle to pay for our own Repairs, as we have the Best Mentor, Guarantor, and Advocate, living within us, The Holy Spirit.

Even if Hull Freezes Over.
