Oh LORD,
Our God,

The movie called "All About Eve", is a study in Narcissism. A manipulative fan named Eve worms her way into the service of an aging actress (Margot), and wreaks havoc as she attempts to usurp everything the Actress has worked for all her life. Margot is a narcissist because she thinks the world revolves around her, and Eve is a narcissist because she thinks she's entitled to Margot's Fame, Fortune, Career, and even her Marriage. Although the term never comes up in the screenplay, modern Psychological Terms for the exhibited behavior would be either Covert Narcissism (False Humility, Flattery, "overdoing" the fandom, etc) and Malignant Narcissism, (Overbearing Entitlement, Controlling, and Manipulative Behavior. We also have a Modern Psychological Term that comes from the Movies called "Gaslighting".

In "All About Eve", Margot was too much of an Overt Narcissist to avoid Covert Narcissist Eve's Gaslighting.

Although these terms are fairly new, they describe behavior that has been around forever. In the Olden Days, "Narcissism" used to be called "Conceit" and "Gaslighting" used to be called LYING. Oh well, it is what it is. Language is always changing, but behaviors are universal and part of the Human Condition.

There are certain things that can't be faked, no matter how much the faker may try. Bona-Fide Miracles, Healings, and Genuine Evangelism can't be accomplished without The Holy Spirit.

Stephen, though given the Assignment of working the Food Pantry, did that and more. Because of the Faith and Power bestowed upon him by The Holy Spirit, Stephen was also able to bring about Healing and Miracles. His erudite speech wasn't enabled by years of study, but by the Indwelling of the Spirit of God. Stephen didn't attribute any of this Power or Eloquence to himself. He gives all the credit to God, and becomes an effective minister of the Gospel...that is, until the "Powers the Be" catch up with him.

Even after he is dragged before the Council, he is empowered to Speak the Truth. And, even as he was being stoned to death, he was able to speak forgiveness to his tormentors.

You might think "What's the Use? Stephen still DIED!", but there was a man in the crowd who heard those words. He was with the mob, holding their cloaks for them as they stoned Stephen to death. This man was a scholar, one who had spent many years with the Word of God, but not with The Spirit of God. He thought that he had it all together spiritually, and decided that he would be the one who would rid his world of these "heretics" forever. He may have even been narcissistic about it.

But The Holy Spirit had OTHER Plans for him.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
