Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem (11/10/24)[Prayer]

Names and Titles of God the Holy Spirit
(Healer) Acts 4:8
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed,
Magnificent,
and Sanctified
is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed and How True is Your Word,
and How Mighty!
How Glorious,
to Span the Millennia,
To be Unfettered by Time and Space,
To Know The End from the Beginning
and the beginning from The End!
For it is You, Oh LORD,
Who designed the Galaxies with Your Compass,
And Mapped Out the Vast Reaches of Space
With Your Word and Your Omniscient Imagination!
Scientists tell us even the heavens are finite.
But YOU are Infinite!
Thank You, Father,
For This Glorious Chronicle of Your Creation!
Thank You for the Glimpse into the Magnificent Power
of Your Creative Word!
LORD, remind us ALWAYS to Worship You,
and not Your Creation.
Your creation is there but to proclaim YOUR GLORY.
Hallelujah and Amen.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

A student of mine just came back from a family vacation in Kolkot (Calcutta), India. Her grandparents live there, and her Dad wanted her to learn a little bit about her family heritage. When I asked her how she liked it, she crinkled up her nose, pouted a little bit, rolled her eyes, and said:
"It smells bad there."
Her Dad looked aghast. Here, he thought he was giving his kids, (both born in the USA, and All-American as Apple Pie), the Cultural Trip of a Lifetime. I can only imagine how much it had cost, taking a family of four to India, during an important Bengali Holiday of Pilgrimage, Boarding the dogs for two weeks, and other expenses.
I quickly attempted to defuse the whole scene, with my tales of visiting the Middle East for the First Time, the animals in the streets, the different smells one encounters, the differences in hygiene, and, most alien of all, the beggars. Blind, amputee, crippled, and deformed, these unfortunate people station themselves at the gates of mosques, synagogues and churches to get whatever charity they can. Sometimes they offer trinkets for sale, and other times they just put their hand out. Since all three of the Abrahamic Religions require adherents to practice Charity, these sad individuals usually sit near houses of worship. We have beggars in America too, but it's not as entrenched as it is in some of these other places. It is a shock when a tourist, who has a nice life in the USA, is confronted with this difficult reality.
I saw this same type of thing in Mexico and the Caribbean, but NOTHING like in the Middle East.
Today's Reading shows The Holy Spirit in a Role that is reminiscent of the Ministry of Jesus. After Preaching the Word of God in a Language that was understood by a diverse audience (The Gifts of Interpretation and Tongues), Peter becomes the Vessel for The Holy Spirit to perform a Miraculous Healing. Notice that I am NOT saying that Peter healed the man on the Temple Stairs. Peter even explains that the man was healed by God working through him.
There are two extremes when we speak of the Gift of Healing. One is the Preacher who is adamant that God doesn't heal people in this day and age. Although they eschew any thought of Healing being a Gift, they will be the first ones to ask for prayer when they or a loved one becomes sick. The other extreme is when a person decides that HE is the One doing the Healing, that he has a special gift that enables him to heal people on the spot at his command.
The man who was healed was in a bad situation. He was not allowed inside the Temple because of his affliction, but he was as close as he could be. He knew that the People entering the Temple would be more likely to give him something than the people who didn't bother to go there. When he encountered Peter, he must have felt there was something different about him, and he grew excited with anticipation. He knew he was going to get something from this man.
What the man got was NOT what he expected. Peter pulled him to his feet, and, by the Power of The Holy Spirit, the man was healed.
Even Peter, the "first" of the Apostles, knew that it was not he that healed the man, but The Holy Spirit that did it.
Even for those of us who believe in the Miracle of Healing, we must never forget that.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 75
To the leader: Do Not Destroy. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.
1 We give thanks to you, O God;
we give thanks; your name is near.
People tell of your wondrous deeds.
2 At the set time that I appoint
I will judge with equity.
3 When the earth totters, with all its inhabitants,
it is I who keep its pillars steady.
Selah
4 I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast’,
and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn;
5 do not lift up your horn on high,
or speak with insolent neck.’
6 For not from the east or from the west
and not from the wilderness comes lifting up;
7 but it is God who executes judgement,
putting down one and lifting up another.
8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup
with foaming wine, well mixed;
he will pour a draught from it,
and all the wicked of the earth
shall drain it down to the dregs.
9 But I will rejoice* for ever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked I will cut off,
but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
