Heavenly Father,
How Wonderful is Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,

It was 75 degrees yesterday, and the only indication that it was not Summer was the low sun in the afternoon filtering through the colored leaves.My sister had a gig at a little restaurant out on a spit of land that sticks out into Boston Harbor. It's one of her favorite places to play, but parking is difficult on the narrow, hilly street.

I decided to accompany her as a Roadie and Sound(wo)man, as I have a bigger car, and know the venue very well. (Also, their Coconut Shrimp and Seared Ahi Tuna are out of this world!) I arrived early at her house to load up the car. It felt like Summer, and loading and setting up sound equipment is hard work, so neither of us brought a jacket.

It was so warm that, on the ride to the Venue, I had to turn on the car's A/C. Woo Hoo! I hope it's like this all Winter! It would be like living in Florida again.

We arrived and found a parking space right next to the back door. Unloading was going to be a cinch. We didn't even need to use our handcart. I got out of the car, opened the rear hatch, and began unloading the gear.

Suddenly, a gust of Wind came off the Ocean and almost knocked me off my feet. While we may have been having a nice Summer Day in Boston, the Entire Northern Hemisphere was experiencing Autumn. The Ocean Temperatures, length of Daylight, and Wind Currents were all saying "Winter is Coming". The Gust of Wind went right into my bones and expelled any illusions I had about the Seasons. I guess it's time to get the snow shovel out of the tool-shed (Ugh).

The Apostles and other Followers of Jesus were waiting for the The Comforter, The Spirit of Power, that Jesus had promised. Not only were they waiting, they were huddled together in The Upper Room, and not sharing the Good News. It's possible that they feared persecution, but they were doing what they had been told to do, so I wouldn't speak too harshly of them. Even so, they were probably nice and warm, huddled together in that little room, in late Spring, in the Middle East. Maybe a little TOO warm.

Then, along comes a Rushing Wind that startles them all and shakes things up. This is a name for the Holy Spirit that fits exactly both the Hebrew and Greek words for Him, Ruach and Pneuma. Both words, from totally different languages, are also the word for Wind. Last Night, I saw how powerful even a little Sea Breeze can be. It changed my whole perception of the Season, the Ocean, the Earth, and the Year to Come.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
