Do Christians Have to Believe Jesus Was Miraculously Born a Virgin? Andy Stanley Suggests ‘No’
Protestia ^ | October 20, 2024 | staff

Posted on 10/22/2024 7:34:23 PM PDT by Morgana

You’ll recall Stanley previously made waves for encouraging Christians to “unhitch” themselves from portions of Old Testament Scripture, denied the Genesis account, saying God only said it to ‘accommodate to our capacity,’ repeatedly told his congregants, ‘I’m not arguing that the bible is correct,’ told them it doesn’t matter if the bible is true, so long as it’s ‘mostly reliable,’ that they shouldn’t follow Jesus through the Old Testament but only through the gospels, and told his church the ‘foundation of our faith is not the whole bible.’

He also lamented that the ‘entire bible’ has become the church’s ‘authority,’ claimed the bible is not equally inspired or equally important, and even argued that demanding potential converts believe the bible is true and without error is an unnecessary obstacle to them coming to Christ. He also argued that Jesus’ birth and the events surrounding the nativity don’t really matter, thus casting doubt upon his supernatural birth by saying “If somebody can predict their own death and then their own resurrection, I’m not all that concerned about how they got into the world” and “Christianity doesn’t hinge on the truth or even the stories around the Birth of Jesus.”‘

All that doesn’t include the mountain of pro-LGBTQ rhetoric seen in these endnotes.

Andy is his father’s son. In their false doctrine of once saved always saved, you can be a homosexual Christian and not even believe the Bible but still be saved if you believed at one point in your life. You could also deny Christ, convert to Islam, and lead a Jihad against Christians and still be saved. Why? Once-Saved-Always-Saved!

Jesus was born of an immaculate conception.

God was powerful enough to create humanity with His word and breath.

You either believe God is the giver of life or you don’t.

I don’t have time for any of these people.

The Gospels are clear (Matthew 1:18-25, for example). Jesus was born from a virgin. You don’t have to believe that. But if you don’t, you are not a Christian.

There are certain core beliefs that every Christian must have to be a Christian. It’s just that simple.

People who don’t like Christianity because it is hard to believe are welcome to go start their own religion. Why do they have to hang around and take apart the Christian church?

If Immaculate Conception is not correct, then Jesus would have been born of a man. He would have been born with a sin nature. Who does Andy think fathered Jesus? What would make Jesus different from anyone else? God can create the universe, but He cannot cause a child to form in the womb without an earthly man?

Here is my 2 cents on Andy Stanley, and a host of others, especially megachurches, they have to have some schtick to get the crowds in. They can’t just preach the Gospel. They have to add their own spin. Andy is over the top. He is beginning to make Steven Furtick look like a Mennonite Elder.

Why believe any of it?

But Andy Stanley has a pretty good racket going by tossing out traditional Christian doctrine and some difficult biblical passages so that he can make things palatable enough to gain new converts. (Converts to what is the question.) He has a net worth of $45,000,000.

I don’t think he actually believes in the gospel.
However, the doctrine of assurance is real.
The doctrine of justification by works is false.

If Andy is saying that someone can truly confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior and repent of their sins and begin following Christ before they fully understand everything about Christ then I agree.

If however he is saying that it doesn’t matter that Jesus was born of a virgin and that it doesn’t matter that all the old testament points to Jesus then that is simply heresy.

Jesus was born of an immaculate conception.

The Immaculate Conception was that of Mary. She was born without original sin. Mary gave birth to Jesus as a virgin, so original sin from Joseph was not passed down to him.

How would Jesus not have been born a virgin?

Has any baby in history ever had sex BEFORE being born??

This is a crazy title.

It’s a Catholic thing. Pay no attention to it. Jesus was born of a virgin not Mary.

What? Who spends time pondering such silly questions?
A child, some kind of Joker, or someone who spends all waking hours thinking about genitals, theirs and everyone else’s.
