The Christian Case For Voting For Trump
The Federalist ^ | 10/11/2024 | Rebecca Weber

Posted on 10/11/2024 9:21:20 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Staying home is not the moral high ground this election. Voting for Donald Trump is.

As the presidential election quickly approaches and is already underway in some states such as Pennsylvania, I am surprised to meet Christians — including evangelicals, Catholics, and mainline Protestants — who tell me they feel they have no choice but to abstain from voting for either candidate. While acknowledging that Kamala Harris would be no friend to Christians, they say they cannot vote for Donald Trump because of his “unpresidential” demeanor, hardline immigration policies, and most recently his comments on abortion policy.

It’s no secret that Trump is unconventional. Unlike most politicians, he says what he thinks. His style is more akin to a boxer in the ring than to a minister in the church pulpit. Of all the self-proclamations Trump has made, he’s never claimed to be a paragon of virtue. Yet Trump has proven to be a competent defender of Christians and our fundamental rights.

During his first term, Trump protected the conscience rights of doctors, nurses, teachers, and religious groups such as the Little Sisters of the Poor. He doubled the child tax credit, expanded paid family leave, proudly brought back the public celebration of Christmas, stood with our Jewish brothers and sisters by moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, and took unprecedented action to rescue victims from the evil of human trafficking.

Crucially, Trump also did more to protect mothers and their unborn babies than any other president in modern history. In addition to instituting many pro-life policies, he appointed the three Supreme Court justices who played an indispensable role in overturning Roe v. Wade — the single greatest victory for protecting the right to life since the ruling in 1973.

Some people still prefer less controversial candidates than Trump. But it is Trump’s unconventional approach — his willingness to buck bureaucratic norms, stay the course when it really counted, and take the heat from corporate media, Democrats, and lukewarm Republicans — that produced such astounding results that decades of conservative leaders failed to deliver.

Kamala Harris, meanwhile, has shown herself to be openly hostile to both Christian values and individual believers. Her record over the past four years and policy proposals for the next four should make every faithful Christian shudder.

Harris has promised to override state laws by signing legislation establishing a national right to unrestricted late-term abortion-on-demand. She is the first sitting vice president to have visited an abortion facility and has made elective abortion a defining issue of her campaign. As a senator, she voted against protections for babies who survive abortions.

While some Christians may be disappointed that Trump has said he would leave abortion policy up to the states in his second term, the reality is that advocating for a blanket nationwide abortion ban is a recipe for sure defeat given the current political environment on the issue. Already more than 20 states have passed laws that protect life at nearly every stage of pregnancy. Trump’s incremental approach is the most likely to save the most lives — and it will certainly save countless more than Harris’ radical abortion agenda.

As vice president, Harris has also been part of the most extreme anti-Christian administration in history. Under her watch, the FBI issued a memo labeling “radical-traditionalist Catholics” as “violent extremists,” according to the House Weaponization Subcommittee, and conducted an outrageous and unjust raid on the home of pro-life activist Mark Houck. The weaponized Biden-Harris Department of Justice targeted pro-life activists while failing to prosecute pro-abortion extremists who threatened and terrorized churches and pro-life pregnancy centers.

Harris also played a key role in ramming through Title IX reforms that allow males to compete in women’s sports and use women’s locker rooms. She has explicitly endorsed left-wing transgender ideology and tacitly embraced prescribing cross-sex hormones and horrific, irreversible transgender surgeries to minors.

Trump has made clear that he will be a fierce opponent of the left-wing push to redefine the sexes and protect our kids, courageously calling these heinous practices what they are: “child abuse.” This alone should be reason enough to vote for Trump. The alternative is leaving an entire generation of kids at risk of irreversible psychological brainwashing and physiological damage.

On the immigration front, Trump’s critics accuse him of being “cruel” and “heartless.” But as we’ve just learned, the reality of Harris’ open borders policies is tens of thousands of murderers and convicted sex offenders pouring into our country. Under her watch, human trafficking at the border — which sees women and girls suffer through rape and unimaginable abuse — has now become a billion-dollar industry.

The choice for believers today is clear: A vote for Trump is a vote to better protect Christians, safeguard our children, advance a culture of life, and restore American sovereignty. A vote for Harris is a vote to prosecute Christians, confuse and mutilate our kids, adopt extreme abortion policies, and undermine the security of our homes and communities.

It sounds extreme because it is. Staying home is not the moral high ground. It’s conceding to a candidate who would actively work against Christians and the values that have made America the greatest light for liberty in the world.

Every time, I see Kamala add (I see many of them), she assures me, that she will make sure all the babies will have the right to be dispensed off.

Her adds remind me every time, that there is no way I could ever vote for her!

This article is a fair rebuttal to the propaganda articles out there claiming millions of evangelicals are gonna stay home on election day.

Donald Trump may not be a perfect Christian (of which there’s no such thing), but he’s far better than the alternative.

Marxism is evil. Harris and Walz are Marists. Trump is the only realistic alternative. It’s as simple as that.

We as people of faith have to make choices in elections.

We may never see a true ideal Christian candidate for political office.

Jimmy Carter was very open about being a born again Christian, but I can’t believe many Free Republic conservatives would have supported him. So just being open about religious faith isnt enough to gain strong support from people of faith.

If a “Christian” makes the claim they cannot vote for Trump because Trump is not a good enough moral character, that person is very unlikely to be a Christian.

There was only one man who was perfect and the world killed him. Christians who don’t vote must realize throughout Scripture Godly men challenged their respected governments. And, these men (Abraham, Moses, Daniel, Paul, John the Baptist) were not perfect. But they followed God’s perfect plan.

Before Trump we had a Winter Holiday. Now we have Christmas, and the greeting “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays”. Now we have “God bless you”, God bless America”, Have a Blessed day”, etc. I like what Trump has done for Christians.

No need to make such an involved argument.

According to the Christian faith, suicide is a sin. Many other religions agree.

According to a purely secular understanding, suicide is generally undesirable.

But according to the Democrat faith (the other religion of peace) suicide is a holy obligation (if you're one of the peasants).

I’m not getting this…. Which Democrat is telling us that suicide is a holy obligation?

It’s as simple as this for me: I look and I see the things Kamala and the left wants, and I see a laundry list of detestable, satanic ideals that will bring nothing but death and destruction for America.

On the other hand, I see in Trump and the right a policy that uplifts and builds up, with the goal of making America a better place for all. Sure, he may be brash and crude, but Trump is our Gideon in this time. If not our Gideon, then perhaps our Samson?

Never mind what they say, look at what they want to do to you (with your consent).

kamala is a certified Christian-hater, baby-killer, and warmonger, with an evil voice and a low IQ! And she supports flooding our country with savage hordes from the Third World!

And she is a mere front-woman for a clique of deep-state operatives, led by obama!

Vote Trump/Vance!

Hope Trump will warm back up to the Pro-Life movement if he wins. They want to be his allies. Think open Pro-Abortionism in the 2028 Republican primaries will be problematic for those candidates.

when confronted with a no-win decision, go to God’s Word.

i go to the account of Solomon and deciding between two women their counter claims on who birthed the baby.

Solomon is king so i can’t ignore the problem (similarly with the the voter). but lets say there is the option of refusing to judge for argument’s sake. when would Solomon be justified in not making a judgment, we ask.

in the real world, his only just options as King are to choose one of the women and give the baby to her if he can determine who the baby belongs to. or cut the baby in half and give half to each one. he can’t steal the baby (dead or alive) from it’s rightful mother. that would be a sin.
again we add the third choice of doing nothing though for the voter’s case sees only evil choices.

if Solomon weren’t King, like a voter, he wouldn’t have all necessary power and authority authority to gain more information about the problem. good for Solomon, he does have the power and authority and will use it. but if not, he’d have the third option of recusing or not making a judgement (like the voter).

back to the women claimants: since both won’t give up the baby, there clearly are no good options for Solomon. he must divide the baby or find out who the mother really is.

wise Solomon likes the option of gathering enough information to give the baby to its true mother, but he’s the law and will kill the baby if necessary. both women know that. Solomon has plenipotentiary power and he uses it for the good in this case.

but, this is the Christian dilemma between judgement among evils.

1st question. are all options evil?

2nd question. can you determine the lesser evil? is their enough available knowledge or

3rd question. are you ignorant of what is the the greater evil? you can’t determine which is the greater evil.

if you are ignorant with no sufficient option to find out the truth, you can take the third option, morally. ah but Solomon has options as king to find out the truth.

he says he will divide the baby. this is just in the absence of having to act ask King, but hoping for more information. as he thought, the real mother gave up her claim. the other mother keeps rejoices as she thinks she now has the baby she stole. both could have had half of a dead baby to bury, but now Solomon has perfect information. he knows the lesser evil: wisely he gives the baby to the mother who relinquished her claim. she will be a far better mother to boot.

therefore: so the voter has the same moral dilemma as Solomon. the only way NOT to vote for either is to claim ignorance of the lesser evil. but (like wise Solomon), as a Christian, you have an obligation to use all your resources as a Christian to find out the lesser evil. if you don’t do that, you’re sinning. if you can’t determine after exhausting all your resources, well then perhaps you don’t have to act.

but once you know enough to choose the lesser evil among many, it’s clearly becomes sin for a Christian not to choose. especially as, as God makes the lesser evil known to you as you seek more information.

that imho, is the Christian case for voting for Trump. so if you’re claiming ignorance, then you better not be lazy about finding out the lesser evil.

For me, the simplest way to explain it to someone who doesn’t pay a lot of attention to politics, is that it’s the Democrats who have routinely said that they’re against “Christian nationalism”. That’s they’re catchphrase for turning Christians into bogeymen that must be destroyed.
