Millions of Christians, religious people say they are not voting in November
Catholic Vote ^ | October 8, 2024 | Grace Porto

CV NEWS FEED // The Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University has found that millions of religious people, most of whom are Christian, report that they will not vote in November’s election.

The study relates that only 51% of “people of faith,” including Christians, Muslims, Jews, Mormons, and other religious groups, plan on voting. This means that approximately 104 million religious people will not vote.

The study explained that of religious Americans, 83% are Christian.

Among Christians, it is estimated that 46 million church-attending Protestants and 19 million church-attending Catholics will not participate in the election.

Just the News reports that Arizona Christian University’s president, Len Munsil, said there were two major takeaways from the study: “First, that Christians could be the deciding factor in a bunch of federal and state races – and are choosing not to be. And second, that they are longing for their local church to instruct them on how to think biblically about policy and politics.”

Although many of the Christians surveyed said that their church covered biblical teaching on topics like religious freedom, poverty, and abortion, these study members also stated that they would be interested in receiving the biblical teaching on topics that were not addressed by their pastors, including inflation (67%), economy (64%), immigration and border control (60%), and crime, law, and order (59%).

The study’s lead researcher, Dr. George Barna, explained the implications of the predicted low turnout among Christians.

“The 32 million Christians who regularly attend church services but are not likely to vote,” he said, “represent a far larger margin than the combined number of votes that decided the 2020 election in key battleground states.”

Barna added, “If church leaders, family members, and close friends will use their influence to get reticent voters from their churches to cast a ballot on November 5, the election outcome will be meaningfully affected.”

Why does this sound like pure propaganda?
Like they’re making the claim with no real proof in hopes that it comes to be?

I thought the US has a low voting population compared to other countries? Is this supposed religious voter non-voting population really just an ordinary occurrence here?

The Muslim mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan. Amer Ghalib (Democrat) endorsed Trump. So has Elon Musk, RFK Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard.

Hopefully enough common sense awakened people will make up for the lukewarm and lost Christians.

Maybe because it is.

I kinda don’t buy this socialistic crap.

I am sure they WISH we wouldn’t vote. I think this is more of a socialist fantasy piece than anything.

I always vote. I vote for who I think will preserve (and hopefully increase) the most good.

I'm pretty sure that this is not PURE propahanda, but maybe a little.

As a sincere follower of the Living Christ and ages-long regular church attender, my fundamental evangelical beliefs have made it very distasteful to be asked to support any of the people the major parties have offered up to choose from since Reagan left office. And that includes the kind of people in other state or local offices as well.

But I have always voted, because not to vote is really supporting the worst candidate; whereas voting FOR the lee evil candidate and NOT for his opponent is equal to two for him/her on my behalf.

Back in the day, my son ran for a state office. His Democrat opponent got twice the votes. But my son would have been at least even with him if only a quarter of the opponent's voters could have been convinced to vote for my son instead. .

Example:

Say it was 40,000 to 20,000. If only 10,000 of the 40,000 could have been convinced to vote for the side that only got 20,000, then they would have been even. then one more vote would have decided the winner.

Think about it.

My Dad was a preacher. He and my Mopm NEVER disclosed to anyone who it was that they voted for. But they always voted!

This is a result of LBJ’s legislation where religious leaders trade political silence for tax exemption.

In the Bible the true prophets, including Jesus spoke out against political evils. That is what they are remembered for.

Today there are mostly false prophets serving 2 masters God and Money. It’s more than obvious that Money comes first.

It’s this love of money that dives the pulpit’s political silence and has many congregates not partaking in elections. It is also one of the drivers of the falling away that is evident in Christian churches.

I doubt the truthfulness of this article but there is something that these folks need to keep in mind. If they don’t show up to vote, rest assured the Ds will submit your vote for you and it will be straight ticket blue.

Donald Trump may be imperfect but Kamala is perfectly incompetent and any believer who understands that God works through fallible human beings will see instantly that Trump is the only choice. And for a Christian not to vote in 2024 is a case of rejecting the good for its lack of perfection.

The kind of country that will exist after four years of Kamala is a case of demonic possession on an even larger scale. I can’t believe this would not be obvious to any Christian, or Jew.

This means that approximately 104 million religious people will not vote.

Huh? Impossible.

There were only 155 mil votes cast in 2020 [prox]...you are saying 2/3’s will not vote?

Very high quality bs.

I am one of those who have voted conservatively in the past at all elections I was eligible to vote in , and do not plan on voting this time.
Seeing how little my vote counted in the past, how little those I voted for followed their promises.
Can Trump’s attempted assassination be considered a head injury but still lives? And Elon Musk be his spokesperson? There were a number of key promises Trump made the first time around that he did not keep nor publicly tried to keep. He does not seem to learn from his mistakes. I have not seen any apologies from him concerning his involvement in the scamdemic.
Having the right to vote the way one sees fit also includes the right not to vote.

Exactly my thoughts as well. I’d like to know how the religious voting participation rate compares to the non religious rate.

Why would this be true? Maybe because of Trump’s stand on abortion.?? I thought Catholics would be opposed to abortion.??
The times, they sure are a changing.....
