Well, my personal belief is that given the context of the general philosophy Jesus espoused, he would probably personally oppose the death penalty; and He would certainly not ‘love’ abortion.
My point is that He never addressed either. But we constantly see people asserting that Jesus would do this or that with regard to some issue of which He was never recorded as expressing an opinion at all. (I think some are prone to using Jesus to validate their own beliefs - and that’s true of the left as well as the right.)
That’s my assumption as well.It seems to me that God’s attitude would be something along the lines of “Only I have the authority to decide when one of My children dies”.
Romans 13:4: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
“given the context of the general philosophy Jesus espoused,”
You need to put away the philosophy and study the scriptures.
Learn the word.
Come to know the Good Shepherd.
He may steal your heart.
A smile and a prayer for you Jamestown.
