A Shoreline man is suing the Seattle Catholic Archdiocese for protecting a priest he says groomed and sexually abused him in the early 1980s at St. John Catholic School.
A "John Doe" filed a negligence lawsuit against the Archdiocese on Monday, alleging repeated sexual abuse at the hands of Father Edward C. Boyle, a priest at St. John who died in 1987 at the age of 62, only a few years after the alleged abuse.
The Archdiocese has acknowledged Boyle's abuses, publishing his name on a list of priests credibly accused of sexual abuse in the Seattle area in 2016.
Doe alleges that Boyle used his 30-year position as priest to sexually abuse him from 1983 through 1984, which he says occurred at the school. The suit further alleges the Archdiocese "knew or should have known" of Boyle's accused sexual abuses, and failed to act on it or notify parents — or protect the child.
According to a Catholic Church sex abuse advocacy group, Boyle was previously accused in 2005 of abuse that reportedly occurred in 1956.
In order to protect their own reputation, the lawsuit claims the Archdiocese concealed the abuses of Boyle and other priests.

Imso, It happened decades ago. Get over it. At a minimun don’t tell everyone these stories in public. You needed to tell someone about this when it was happening. Then again many people can only function as a victim. They are mentally getting their dopamine from the telling of these stories and the attention and pity they get. They are parasites draining the happiness and joy for anyone willing to listen to them.
Jerry Sandusky was married to a woman. So even being married is no guarantee.
The abusers needed to not rape and molest children but since they did and so many covered for them - there ARE victims. Don’t listen to them if your happiness and joy is threatened, I guess.

I should clarify my post above. My complaint is with the nuns who were emotionally and physically abusive. Most are likely dead. I hope they sought forgiveness for their acts before their deaths.

The coverup is worse than the crime. If the church had acted immediately and cooperated with the authorities when these pedophiles were discovered they would not be having the troubles they are today. No, they covered it up and allowed these creeps to escape justice and even continue to abuse children. Now they have destroyed much of the public’s trust and keep paying out millions. All because they didn’t do the right thing. They deserve everything that’s coming to them
Here is a similar case from Seattle involving a judge. It was covered up for decades. When the Seattle P-I called him for comment on the story to be published the next day, he committed suicide in his chambers soon after the call.
If I recall correctly, one of his victims committed suicide.
Having joined a scripture-based church focused on the atonement of Jesus, yes, that is when I began to heal.
I try to understand the situation of the nuns. They, too, were likely physically and emotionally abused in their schools. They, too, were products of heavy handed indoctrination.
