Since I had no desire to cut up a dead frog, I chose Chemistry as an alternative to Biology in High School. I was a Fine Arts Major, so I really didn't care about Chemistry. Perhaps if I had studied Chemistry harder, I could have invented a new form of Art (Like my Painting Professor, Ron, in College...He INVENTED Acrylic Paint!) Just the other evening, a fellow Alumna of Massachusetts College of Art was grumbling about Professor Ron, carping that he was promoting his new invention to his students instead of teaching OIL Painting like he was supposed to. I had to defend the professor. He would have us paint with nothing BUT Oils in painting class, which meant, of course, that the paintings would take forever to dry. Upon returning to class the next day, the paintings would be covered in dust and fuzz balls from the ancient building, sticking to the still-wet canvas. My style necessitated quick drying properties, and I made the transition fro Oil to Acrylic with ease. Now, Arts and Crafts Stores have aisle upon aisle of Acrylic Paints, mostly from "CHY-nah", but Professor Ron's Brand is in the "Professional" Aisle, where I make a beeline for when I need paint. It's just BETTER. What can I say?

So now you know. I trained my whole life to be an Artist, and ended up doing Music for a Living. I took Chemistry instead of Biology to avoid cutting up a frog. And here's the worst part...I used to be a Hippie, but I grew up.

Some folks, however, never did. Every year, for the last twenty, a huge gathering of "hippies" occurs in Nevada, called Burning Man.

Originally an Experimental Arts Festival, the gathering has quickly devolved into a giant exhibition of Paganism and Debauchery. While some of the Art Installations are very imaginative and beautiful, most of them have overt sexual and satanic themes. I suppose the artists involved want to be "edgy", but they really do go overboard.

The festival culminates in a huge bonfire (The Burning Man) and then everybody goes home, mostly to very lucrative, establishment, jobs. (They would have to be rich to be able to afford such extravagance). All that is left when they leave are ashes from the Fire.

Last year, torrential rains turned the Nevada Desert into a slurry of sticky mud that caused the expensive campers and RVs to get mired in over a foot of churned-up earth.

Access Roads were obliterated, and people were trapped. Emergency Vehicles couldn't get in or out. It was Chaos. Two of the Ancient Elements, Water and Earth worked together to make the exodus from the festival total chaos.

So, after Fire, Earth, and Water, we have the Fourth of the Ancient Elements left for 2024, that is Air. When Air moves, it's called WIND. And that's what hit the Burning Man Festival this year.

Gale Force Winds caused a sandstorm worthy of the Sahara, and, once again, the exodus from Burning Man turned into a disaster. It would seem the very Elements of God's Creation are expressing displeasure.

Now, I know there are a whole lot more Elements than Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. In fact, the Periodic Table of Elements has over a hundred of them, and seems to be growing. But since "Burning Man" is an "Arts" Festival, I decided to use a little "Artistic License" in Today's Story.

Perhaps if I had applied myself in Chemistry Class, I might have invented a new kind of paint, and become a millionaire. But then, my life would have tracked differently, and I might never have met all of YOU.

The Holy Spirit, as described in this Passage from Isaiah, is the Restorer of Beauty, Joy, and Praise. He takes the Ashes, Mourning, and "spirit" of Heaviness from us, and replaces those negative emotions with His Gifts and the Fruit that comes from them. He lifts us up out of the mire, wipes off the dust that clings to us, and adorns us with a Robe of Righteousness.

He is The Restorer of All Good Things, and is patiently waiting for us to Restore and Transform Us.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
