Demonstrating what a hellhole of sin, sacrilege, and satanic cowardice the United Methodist Church has become, a prominent Bishop who has for years denied the divinity of Christ has finally retired on her own terms, according to a recent article, by Juicy Ecumenism, which calls her one of the” key architects of the UMC’s recent liberalization on human sexuality.”
Bishop Karen Oliveto, a raging heretic if there ever was one, retired from the denomination’s Western Jurisdiction this week. She was elected Bishop in 2016 despite being “same-sex married,” which is against the denomination’s book of discipline. A year later, the United Methodist Judicial Council, the denomination’s highest court, ruled her election invalid in a 6-3 decision, but she was never removed from her position because most of the leadership is spiritually compromised and hates Christ.
In 2017, she got in a smidge of hot water after preaching a since-deleted- but-captured-below sermon she she warned people not to make an idol of Jesus, as he had “bigotries and prejudices” just like everyone else, and had to learn to change his mind about them. (click to enlarge)
“If Jesus can change, if He can give up His bigotries and prejudices, if He can realize that He had made His life too small, and if, in this realization, He grew closer to others and closer to God, then so can we.”
While complaints were raised, they were all resolved “hush-hush” behind closed doors, and the UMC at large was never told what became of them.
And now she’s retiring, not being forced out, on her own terms. Juicy Ecumenism notes that her replacement is more of the same.
Oliveto’s successor, Kristin Stoneking, also a married lesbian, seems entirely in lockstep with her predecessor’s radical progressivism. At PSR, which styles itself as a “progressive Christian seminary,” Stoneking wrote an op-ed hailing the 2024 General Conference as an example for other denominations to follow. Stoneking also welcomed the UMC’s retreat from traditional Christian ministry and transformation into a “large, non-governmental institution.” In an interview with her conference, Stoneking followed Oliveto in describing the Traditional Plan as a moment of “deep despair.”

Let’s be real edgy and progressive, and put a person in charge that hates us, hates our organization, and hates our doctrine and history.
Then we can watch what happens as a result! It will be stimulating!
Her remaining as a so-called “bishop” without being defrocked is what hastened my departure (individual disaffiliation) from the UMC.
If Jesus can change, if He can give up His bigotries and prejudices …The Bible says Jesus Christ is “the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). He never had any bigotry or prejudice, but the world (and people like Oliveto) are filled with bigotry and prejudice against Him and try to remake Him in their accursed image.
Why does the article call Oliveto (who I never heard of) “famed”? Isn’t “infamous” the correct term?

I remember reading of a case, probably a hundred years ago, of a Methodist minister who was tried and removed from ministry for having similar christological views. Of course, that was when the Methodists had theological standards and moral standards and the will to discipline their clergy. That has been eroding for a long time, and so they wind up with this. This bunch did not even have the integrity or will to keep her from functioning as a bishop even after they themselves ruled her election invalid. What a joke! And what a sad and pathetic end to what was once a great Christian denomination.
It seems UMC clergy wimmin (notice that I used the PC term) are frumps.

She’s in a “same sex marriage” and lesbians tend to be frumpy. And it seems that most wimmin clergy (at least among mainline Protestants) are lesbians.

The UMC has gone to the dogs, still, glad to hear that lezbo sack of heresy is gone.
It’ll be interesting when she experiences the ultimate “retirement”, the one that moves her from this mortal coil into direct contact with GOD and Jesus. I think it won’t turn out like she must think it’ll turn out. She’ll get to ‘splain to the CHRIST how he isn’t divine... would like to be a fly on the wall for that!

She’s still posting UKE propaganda at various times during the day and night.
Since her threads received so many negative comments, she now buries her crap in the threads of other FReepers and pings the Zelensky fanboys. She started a thread a few days ago and it was blown to smithereens.
Her sneakiness hasn’t helped her avoid criticism. It follows her like a puppy.
