My Student Lena had just turned 12, and she was going to be making her Bat Mitzvah soon. As her family went to a Reform Synagogue, she was going to be allowed to go up to the Lectern and Read from The Big Torah Scroll. It is customary that the Bar Mitzvah Boy (or Girl) read the scheduled reading of that particular day. Sometimes the kid gets a real exciting Passage, like the Parting of the Red Sea, or the Tower of Babel, The Great Flood, or even the Call of Abraham. I asked Lena what her Reading was going to be.

She sighed, shrugged her shoulders, and said:

"All I got was a bunch of Rules and Regulations."

Poor Kid! She probably got a chapter about hygiene or skin diseases.

I comforted her the best I could.

"Lena, your Reading is VERY Important! Imagine being Moses, stuck with getting Three Million People across a desert. These People had been slaves for 400 years and had no personal sovereignty. They were not used to taking care of themselves, because they had lived under the thumb of the Egyptians for so long. Imagine taking all those people CAMPING! Moses NEEDED those Rules and Regulations to get the People safely across the desert, and keep the People free from Disease, Squalor, Filth, Disorder, and Crime. You have a VERY important Reading!"

To which she replied:

"It's all going to be in Hebrew anyway. NOBODY will understand what I'm saying."

Her Mom happened to be walking by as I was speaking, and she expressed displeasure that I was commenting upon Lena's assignment. (I'm not even Jewish!) Oh Well. I was just trying to comfort her.

Since the Holy Spirit is the Author of Scripture (by Inspiration), it is no coincidence that Jesus got the Isaiah Chapter on the very day He was called up to the Bemah (lectern) to read. Nobody showed any surprise at the Reading until Jesus indicated that the Prophecy was about HIM. Then, they became enraged.

When somebody who we don't expect comes up with a deep Spiritual Truth, we are not always willing to accept it.

The Holy Spirit is the Anointer, the Bringer of Good News, and, as stated here, The Comforter. He is given this Name by Jesus Himself. In John 14, Jesus says:

"16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; (John 14:16 KJV)

Every human being will experience the Death of a Loved One at one time or another. Unless a person is a total sociopath, we all experience devastating loss and grief. Although each of us grieve differently, it always hurts.

It is then that we can turn to Our Comforter, The Holy Spirit, Who knows exactly what each person needs to be comforted. He Is The One Who will help and guide us through our grief, and bring healing.

"Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted."(Matthew 5:4)

AMEN and AMEN, thank you. Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for the Nation of Israel and the Salvation of all.

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes - Thank you LORD that Your Hand revived the Land of Israel for Your People and rebirthed the Nation out of the ashes of the Holocaust.

The oil of joy for mourning, Thank You LORD that many are joyfully returning to Live in the Land given to them, knowing that this place is the Place that You have put Your Name.

Right now, as they work through the torrents of evil and enemies alike, and the sorrow of the aftermath of Oct. 7th, please LORD, let those who know the Savior cover them in prayer, comfort them with love, and shine forth the Light of Salvation as a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
