Every Summer, my Dad's Employer "loaned" him to The Red Cross for a month, to train Red Cross Certified Lifeguards in methods of CPR, First Aid, and other Life-Saving techniques. He always brought his large Reel-to-Reel Tape Recorder, two external stereo speakers, and a stack of tapes. The summer camp was located on a beautiful pond, and, thanks to Dad, was filled with Classical Music. We kids sure missed Dad for a month, but it freed up his HUGE Stereo at home for The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. (Also, we knew he was doing a Good Deed!)

I don't know if they train Lifeguards differently now, but in those days a special "dummy" was used named Resusci-Annie. (go to the link if you dare!)

At the end of a particularly long and arduous month at the camp, Dad was driving a little too fast as he was eager to get home. On the dark, rural road, a local cop, who was very young and a wee bit overzealous, pulled him over, asked him to get out of the car and open the trunk. (Maybe he was looking for someone else? Who knows!). Anyway, Dad opened the trunk, and there was Resusci-Annie, in all her drowned glory! The Rookie Cop almost had a stroke on the spot. Dad hastily explained that he was coming from Red Cross Training Camp, and he was the CPR Instructor. The cop, embarrassed by his mis-identification of Annie as a real dead person, was so flustered, he just let Dad go on his way. Not even a WARNING!

Resusci-Annie lived in our basement, along with her Baby Sister Resusci-Kate. We kids were NOT allowed to play with them, as they were more than just dolls or dummies. They had plastic, inflatable lungs that simulated human breathing when the "Mouth-to-Mouth" method of CPR was employed. Mom, who suffered from Asthma, couldn't inflate those lungs no matter how hard she tried. Even though she aced the written part of the test, she was never able to be certified because she couldn't fill those fake lungs.

In the Story of Noah and the Ark, there are three instances where "The Breath of Life" (Ruach Chayim) is used. The word "Ruach" can mean "Wind, Breath, Spirit, Breeze, and even Cool", but in this context (Gen. 6:17, Gen 7:15, and Gen:7:22), it means the very air we breathe that gives us life.

While you may think...OK, these passages aren't talking about The Holy Spirit, they are talking about the air in which we live, and move, and have our being.

Oh...wait...isn't that what Paul said about The Holy Spirit when he debated with the Philosophers on Mars Hill? Why yes. Here it is:

27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

(Acts 17, KJV)
