Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent Is Your Name Over All The Earth!
We Praise and Worship You;
For You Alone Are Worthy;
You Alone Are LORD;
You Alone Are The One True God of the Universe!
Blessed Are You Oh LORD, Our God,
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
LORD of Hosts,
Rock of All Ages!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Names and Titles of God (Lord) John 20:28

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

King James Version

________________________

I have a wonderful brother named Tom. He is closest to me in age of six siblings, and is about two years younger than I am. We have always been best buddies, growing up together, looking after our younger siblings, riding motorcycles, working on home projects, sailing, and other adventures. He lives about 25 miles from me, and I often drop in for a visit when I am out riding on the South Shore. My other brother happens to live in the same town, and I will often make my visits a "Two-fer".

From the time he could speak his first words, Tom was the most skeptical person I have ever met in my life. His skepticism ranged from refusal to wear a certain cap on Easter Sunday or refusing to dance around the Maypole in Kindergarten, all the way to refusing to text, get a smartphone, or pay his bills on the computer. He is able to present a perfectly reasonable argument in favor of his position (the hat was "silly", the Maypole was Stupid, texting is rude, and computers can falsify your data or spy on you), and, actually I tend to agree with him. But I am not as stubborn or tenacious as he is, and I eventually gave in to silly hats, stupid school dances, texting, and paying my bills online. I am currently sitting here waiting for delivery of my first smartphone ever. (DON'T LAUGH AT ME!), My flip phone is no longer adequate for my needs.

When Tom was a mere toddler, Mom used to call him "Doubting Thomas". It wasn't until I heard the Gospel Story of Thomas the Apostle that I understood her nickname for my brother.

When I worked in the Seminary Bookstore, I was intrigued by the "Gospel of Thomas". The Ministry Students at the Seminary were all enthralled with this non-canonical Gnostic Book, because it seemed to affirm their own interpretation of Scripture. I felt I needed to read it too, so I could understand what all the fuss was about. In the first chapter, there was a line attributed to Jesus:

"The Kingdom of God is within you and without you..."

Wow...that reminded me of a song by George Harrison, "Within You and Without You". I found this very interesting, because George wrote this song after studying meditation in India, where Legend has it, the Apostle Thomas made a Missionary Journey. Thomas is even called "The Apostle to India", and some of the tiny minority of Christians in India claim roots going back to him. I thought I had discovered a direct link between The Gospel and the Beatles.

Time and further study showed that my "discovery wasn't that at all. As I mentioned, the Gospel of Thomas was a Gnostic text. This was a sect that threatened the Early Church because they claimed to possess some kind of "Secret Knowledge". The Author Dan Brown tried to latch onto the Gospel of Thomas in "The Da Vinci Code", in which the Gospel of Thomas is used to posit that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and had descendants. This could only have happened if Jesus wasn't The Lord God Incarnate, so the book further posited that Jesus was NOT the Son of God.

Brown made a number of historical and textual errors in his book, but only someone who knew the Bible and History would notice. The most egregious error was when the professor said something about hidden NEW Testament books discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls. (It wasn't the Dead Sea Scrolls, it was the NAG HAMMADI TEXTS!)

Perhaps the biggest error on the Part of the Da Vinci Code was attributing "Gnostic Gnotions" to the Apostle Thomas. Sure, he was skeptical. But when he was confronted by The Risen Lord Jesus, he exclaimed:

"MY LORD AND MY GOD!"

That settled the matter.

The word for "Lord" in this context is the Greek word κύριος (Koo-ri-os) Strong's 2962. It is such a powerful Name, that the Roman Catholic Traditional Liturgy renders it in Greek instead of Latin (The Kyrie). Mozart did an awesome job with it in his Requiem.

While the "Gospel of Thomas" may have been written by some Gnostic named Thomas, The APOSTLE Thomas no longer had any doubt.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 15

A Psalm of David.

1 O Lord, who may abide in your tent?
Who may dwell on your holy hill?

2 Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right,
and speak the truth from their heart;
3 who do not slander with their tongue,
and do no evil to their friends,
nor take up a reproach against their neighbours;
4 in whose eyes the wicked are despised,
but who honour those who fear the Lord;
who stand by their oath even to their hurt;
5 who do not lend money at interest,
and do not take a bribe against the innocent.

Those who do these things shall never be moved.
