Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba, Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
Blessed Be Your Glorious Name Forever!
We Come Into Your Holy Presence
With Praise and Singing.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God of The Universe!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

The Ninth Grade Glee Club, in our Inner City Junior High School, was working very hard to rehearse our Patriotic Spring Program. We had a bunch of songs by Irving Berlin, George M. Cohan, and the inevitable "Let There Be Peace on Earth". Since the Glee Club was all girls (no self-respecting boy would join, even though they were welcome), we were surprised when Miss Landrigan (THE LAND DRAGON) filed a small group of boys into the rehearsal. It was even more surprising was that she herded the boys behind us, and was directing them to climb up onto some staging at the back of the platform. Some of the boys managed to pinch or poke at the girls as they went by...nothing sexual, just bratty. We kept singing, not daring to turn around, as THE LAND DRAGON was in charge and we didn't dare question her authority.

The Big Night came, and we filed up onstage to do our show. All through our program, we could hear the boys behind the curtain mumbling and stumbling on the staging at out backs. We could hear them climbing up onto the risers, cracking jokes in their adolescent voices, and just being "boys". It was EXTREMELY annoying. What was The Land Dragon up to?

At the end of the program was the George M. Cohan Medley. As we sang "You're A Grand Old Flag" we felt the WHOOOSH of the curtain opening behind us. Suddenly, the audience rose to its feet, clapping and cheering something in Latin...it sounded like "SEMPER FI!".

We all turned around to see a perfect tableau of the Flag Raising at Iwo Jima, as the bratty ninth-grade boys stood perfectly still for the remainder of the song.

I guess the Fire-Breathing Land Dragon had a bigger heart than we thought.

The Motto of the United States Marines is the Latin "Semper Fi". It means "Always Faithful". Faithfulness is a quality that doesn't seem as important as it used to be. People flit from job to job, hobby to hobby, spouse to spouse, religion to religion, and left to right and back again. Sometimes it is appropriate to change an affiliation, as when escaping an abusive situation, leaving a cult, or "seeing the light", and being set free. But, unfortunately, in our modern culture, the tendency is to just float from one thing to another, depending upon a whim. This could be the result of the short attention span and dismissive milieu of Social Media, You Tube, Dating Apps, and other features of the Computer Age. If you don't like something, or even if you just lose interest, you can "flick" it aside with a swipe of your index finger. A lot of this dismissiveness has translated over to REAL LIFE. Without an anchor or a belt holding our lives together, our choices flap around like a loose garment that won't stay closed, exposing us to the cold and injuries of the world around us.

The Prophet Isaiah describes the Messiah as wearing Faithfulness as a belt:

Also righteousness will be the belt around His hips, And faithfulness the belt around His waist. (Isaiah 11:5 NASB). This is echoed in Revelation 19:11, where Christ is given the Name "Faithful and True".

Truth is not subjective. It is what it is. Jesus said "I AM the Truth.". Faithfulness to the Truth will never lose its authenticity, even if it goes out of style for a while. It will always prevail because it IS.

At least one of the boys in the Tableau took it to heart, joined the Marines, and was KIA in Vietnam. There is a square named after him in W. Roxbury.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 33

1 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous.
Praise befits the upright.
2 Praise the Lord with the lyre;
make melody to him with the harp of ten strings.
3 Sing to him a new song;
play skilfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

4 For the word of the Lord is upright,
and all his work is done in faithfulness.
5 He loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
and all their host by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathered the waters of the sea as in a bottle;
he put the deeps in storehouses.

8 Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
9 For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.

10 The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
11 The counsel of the Lord stands for ever,
the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage.

13 The Lord looks down from heaven;
he sees all humankind.
14 From where he sits enthroned he watches
all the inhabitants of the earth—
15 he who fashions the hearts of them all,
and observes all their deeds.
16 A king is not saved by his great army;
a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
17 The war horse is a vain hope for victory,
and by its great might it cannot save.

18 Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love,
19 to deliver their soul from death,
and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waits for the Lord;
he is our help and shield.
21 Our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
22 Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
even as we hope in you.

Your story is especially powerful today. Your analysis is spot on. This is the result of turning from faith in God to the god of self. We’ve been indoctrinated to “follow your heart,” that desperately wicked thing. The younger generations are completely immersed.
