Pertaining only to the title and breathing, I am a little suprised churchs do not promote meditation, not just on the word of our Lord but meditation in general.

Eastern meditation is looking inward. Christian meditation is focused on God in Christ, through His Word and His Spirit.

Word-oriented churches like most non-Lutheran Protestants want nothing to do with meditation. Sacramental-oriented churches like Catholics and Orthodox practice God-focused Christian meditation in various forms already. Lutherans, who straddle between Word and Sacrament, could benefit from meditation, but generally aren't interested--and I am LCMS so I know of what I speak.
