I don't know who this youtuber is but she makes such valid points that I had to post this. I'm sick of seeing women (and men) dressing poorly for church.

Agree with her and (Saint Paul) that dressing to show off your body is not appropriate to church. However I am leary of making myself the arbiter of when someone else crossed that line.

Coinciding with Vatican 2 was this notion that you could wear super-casual clothes to church and it would be reinforced with the 'It doesn't matter what you wear but what is in your heart'

The effect was profoundly demoralizing and continues to be, as we have seen. It's a great way to denigrate the sanctity and seriousness of the Mass.p>That was the point of the commie-infiltrators in the Church, and it remains important today.

What would you wear to your arraignment? To an appointment with execs of your company? On a TV news show?

To a funeral of a beloved friend?

To any place you were trying to give a good impression showing you respected the seriousness of the event?

Did not the Almighty say He would be there in person, if "two or more are gathered in My name"?

Believe me the hipster/flip flop/t shirt and shorts crowd are not showing their genuine faith, they are undermining and demonstrating hostility.

I haven’t attended church in years.

There’s not one within 60 miles that I would set foot in.

How about we just dress modestly and within resoanable means of our blessings.

Dress codes like dresses only and business attire for church, quite literally prevent effective witness for our Lord.

While Christ’s robe was valuable, that was due to the love of his Mother, not wealth. Lets not forget Christ mission was often among the poor and destitute, where he preached among those with barely a rag to cover themselves.

Clothing should not be a barrier to entering a building filled with the Church Body, if it is then the building is not Christ’s Church.

TRUTH!!!

Just like the rebellious teenagers of the 60’s are now running our government..(into the ground..), our churches are now run by rebellious teens of the 90’s. -And having the same effect.

People, grunge may have been cool in your middle school back in 1997, but it doesn’t belong in the church.

Church doesn’t need “cool”; it needs “Holy”.

It doesn’t need formal dress, but sheesh.. SOME modicum of respect for the Lord you’ve come to worship. After all HE provides for you; the least we can do is show up in our best - for Him.

Sunday morning - are you coming to a picnic to play frisbee or to worship the God who created all things and is Holy?

It’s about respect.

Just my opinion, but I see dresses cultural. And I don’t see God as cultural.

I eat, what you wear is completely irrelevant. I don’t dress for God I dress for the people there. If I was dressing for God I’d be buck naked.

When I was a kid I didn’t like getting dressed up for church. I asked my mother why we had to. She said, “Well, if you were invited to the White House to meet the president, wouldn’t you dress up for that? Going to church is being invited to meet God.”

Of course that was back when people understood the virtue of being respectful.

In don’t have a problem with more casual attire for church, but am sick of seeing women and girls dressed like hookers.

For both men and women, what’s fit for the beach (maybe) is NOT fit for church. Sometimes what’s worn at the beach isn’t even decent enough for the beach.

The only way to Heaven is through Jesus. He cares more about your eternal soul than clothes.

I was staying with family in Ireland years ago & the only clean pants I had were sweat pants which I thought were my get of jail free card. My cousin said, “the Lord doesn’t care what you wear, just that you’re there.” I went to church.

I see people all the time in church who are dressed poorly, but I am just pleased they’re there. I think God is too.

Disclaimer: I didn’t watch video n can only imagine…
All the way back to the Baltimore Catechism: “avoid the near occasion of sin”. Yours and others. Women should not dress so as to cause others to sin.

Those women are not going to church to meet the Son, but to meet the new baby daddy.

Our Priest calls it out often. He doesn’t specifically target a person but makes it known, that in the House of God, a sacred place, we should look and act the part.

The church I attend is pretty casual. The only issue I have on current church attire is younger women not understanding that revealing clothing can be a problem for some men. I know fashions have changed but there are lines which shouldn’t be crossed.

I don’t mind t-shirts or blue jeans or even decent shorts and flip flops. I want our church to be a place where anyone with any background can feel they are welcome and loved in their journey toward Jesus. And it is. We have lawyers and nurses and former drug addicts, and even people who have served time.

Early on in my Christian walk, I heard a preacher talking about reverencing the Lord. In his message, he suggested that if we were invited to a friend’s wedding, we would be sure to show up appropriately dressed for the occasion…well, we have been invited to meet with the King of Glory! That was it for me…very convicting. He went on to say it is not to justify ourselves, or to impress or embarrass others…it is to honor the Lord. I will say, as I think about it, it may send a message to any unsaved attendee how you view meeting with the Savior.

There seems to be a lack of self respect in every aspect of our American culture. Dressing appropriately for any occasion helps with self esteem. Circumstances vary for all and I think Jesus would appreciate some consideration of proper appareal for church goers. We attended Mass when vacationing and camping out in rough territory and dressed as decently as possible. At least try and be clean.

I’m sorry but I disagree. I believe that God will judge us for many things but not for the clothes we wear to church.

If a person has means to dress in fineries and strolls right through the door, and another is poor, do they get rejected from walking in the house of their Lord? If that’s the case, then that is not the church I would attend
