Thank You, Abba Father,
For Being Our Hiding Place,
Our Deliverer,
Our Rock,
and Our Redeemer!
Fill Our Days With Songs Of Deliverance,
For Ourselves,
Our Families,
And Our Nation.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,

I had a hard time getting online this morning, and it was complicated by the fact that I was on the phone trying to explain to a service rep that I had made a payment on an account. I couldn't get onto my bank account to prove that I had made the payment, and the service rep had such a thick accent that I couldn't understand a word she was saying. It was SO frustrating. But here I am, everything all straightened out, and time to write Today's meditation.

Some time ago, I watched this video about the iconic Falling Waters House. It's very interesting if you are into that sort of thing. The House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is considered a National Treasure. It's very cool, but I don't know if I could actually LIVE there. I love Architecture, but didn't pursue that aspect of Art because there is too much MATH involved! If it were just a matter of design, I would be fine, but one has to also calculate all the systems: Plumbing and Heating, Electrical, Waterproofing, Load Stresses, Footings, and Lord Knows what else.

I have read that a lot of Frank Lloyd Wright homes have "Issues".

Evidently there is more to designing a house than just having it LOOK awesome. What goes on inside the walls, foundations, footings, beams, pipes, wiring, and conduits are actually more important than the outward appearance.

I remember the first time I read the book The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. The Author claims that she had no intention of patterning the protagonist Howard Rourke after Frank Lloyd Wright, but that was the first thing that popped into my mind when I read the book. I'm sure I'm not the only one who had those thoughts.

Like Frank Lloyd Wright, the fictional Howard Rourke was Individualistic, Non-Conforming, and very Creative. Both designed buildings that were sleek, and without crazy Neo-Classical or Victorian adornments that interrupted the flow of space and design. And, if the issues that the FLW buildings are encountering these days are to be taken at face value, it would seem that the OUTSIDE was more important than the INSIDE, and the SEEN more important than the UNSEEN. In The Fountainhead, there is no discussion of Rourke calculating the loads on the footings on a cantilevered terrace hanging off a cliff, proper drainage for a basement, or how many miles of conduit will be required to wire up a skyscraper. It would seem that both were Designers, but not necessarily Builders.

It is this deficit in design that causes the contractors to encounter huge cost overruns, constant trips back to the Supplier for more supplies, costly delays, and, sometimes, tragic fatal accidents. There is more to Architecture than just design. Ya Gotta Do The Math. That's why I wisely stepped back from that dream even though I was the ONLY female in my High School Mechanical Drawing Class. That was back-in-the-day, when we sharpened our pencils on a piece of sandpaper. (I didn't turn out so bad, and ended up as a Musician, which is a lot more fun.) Still, like Howard Rourke, I never seemed to fit in anywhere, because I wanted to do my own thing. Unlike Howard Rourke, though, I never got Rich and Famous!

In Today's Passage, and the one immediately following, Jesus is called "The Builder". Humans are the crown of God's creation. We are not the biggest creatures, nor are we the fastest, or even the most beautiful. A Tropical Reef Fish is more colorful, a Whale much larger, a Horse more powerful, and a Puppy much cuter. Yet here we are. We have something inside that the rest of creation seems to lack. I'm not talking about the miles of nerves, blood vessels, organs, cells, and molecules that make up our bodies. The animals have all that. I'm not even talking about personality, because even my dog has that. There is something deeper, that Our Builder included in us, that gives us the strength to bear heavy emotional loads, to balance our lives, and to seek Something Greater than ourselves. That is the "Soul" or "Spirit", and Thank God our Builder didn't leave that out!
