Rev. Mark Sandlin is the senior impastor at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, a small PCUSA congregation in Greensboro, NC. The church describes itself as “an inclusive community, experiencing, exploring, appreciating, celebrating the spiritual foundation of existence” while also “affirm(ing) the presence of that which has been traditionally called God in human life.”
Sandlin received his M. Div. from Wake Forest University’s School of Divinity, is the co-founder of The Christian Left, and writes at The God Article. Most of his theological beliefs were whispered to him by the devil himself, however, as he is easily the most progressive PCUSA ‘pastor’ we’ve ever seen.
We last encountered him after he insisted that Jesus was not God, something that is not enough to have him booted from the heretical Presbyterian Church USA denomination, and in a recent sermon series, he insisted that Jesus was not supernaturally born of a virgin, but rather the sexual union between Mary and another man.

Denial of the Holy Spirit. The only unforgivable sin. The pastor is a reprobate.
Does he deny the Resurrection too?
After all, it is “Biology 101” as well.

This is why the PCUSA has dropped from 3 million members to 1 million members on its way to oblivion. The PCUSA views Christianity as just another social services organization. There are plenty of those around already. And its a shame because my old pastor from the 1980s was a very dynamic PCUSA pastor who drew crowds in for every sermon with great, Bible-based sermons.

I had a church history professor who was a dedicated Protestant, but who had the opinion that most of Protestantism would eventually wind up as some form of Unitarianism. Along with their general apostasy, the mainline Protestants are certainly there.

His views are perfectly logical, if you don’t believe in God. If you do believe in God as the Creator of the universe, then you must believe that He is omnipotent. He created the laws of nature and He can suspend them.
We typically call them “miracles”.
