American Democracy Was Born of Christianity The Second American Revolution is being waged by a different sort of people. Those purging history from our streets are already coming for the Founders. John Witherspoon’s statue in Washington, D.C. has been left alone — but that’s because they don’t know who he is. They do not believe in liberty and individual responsibility under God. Most do not believe in God. They believe in collective responsibility, not individual responsibility. Comparisons have been made between the rioters and the Patriots. It is only being made by the staggeringly ignorant.
American democracy was born of Christianity. Without that lifeblood sustaining the Republic, she is living on borrowed time. It is significant that the French Revolution has gained popularity amongst the rioters. These people seek no continuity with the past. They do not recognize God’s sovereignty. And they do not know their own history.
On Independence Day, it is more important to fight them tooth and nail than ever. The soul of America is at stake.

Never trust a Presbyterian.
There are two distinctly different Presbyterian factions. PCUSA - OK with gays, OK with abortion, women preachers, etc. PCA - super conservative.
Figure out which one you’re disparaging.
Plenty of Presbyterians are not woke or into lesbo “elders” ‘n’ stuff.”
Don’t smear all of us because of the PCUSA’s nutty beliefs. There’s the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Reformed Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Church in America to name a few of the dissenters who are not part of the PCUSA. Also, the newly formed ECO Presbyterian Church.
None of us has gone woke.
Personally if there were a traditional Presbyterian church near me I would probably join. I consider myself an American Puritan, and the Westminster confession summarizes my theological beliefs. I'm also a great admirer of John Knox, a great man. Presbyterians were at the heart of the American experiment. Happy 4th to you and your loved ones!

No doubt Presbyterians were involved and Whitherspoon was very influential. The majority? I doubt.

The belief in God is paramount to this country. If we believe our rights came from man, they can be revoked at any time. If from God, only he can revoke them.
We have a Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the area, but it’s quite a long drive. I have read their material, and they okayed women pastors recently. I doubt if ask congregations have bought into it, but it’s there.

A teacher once asked her students to bring to class a symbol of their religious faith. Accordingly, a Jewish student brought a kippah cap, a Roman Catholic brought a crucifix, and a Methodist brought a casserole.
And a Lutheran brought a ‘hot dish’.
There is nothing more liberating than holding the Presbyterian/Calvinist belief in the truth of the five solas.
Sola scriptura: “Scripture alone”
Sola fide: “faith alone”
Sola gratia: “grace alone”
Solo Christo: “Christ alone”
Soli Deo gloria: “to the glory of God alone”
Eph 2:8&9: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
