Almighty and Eternal Father,
How Glorious and Wonderful You Are!
Your Magnificence and Perfection are Overwhelming.
And yet, even more-so, Your Justice,
Your Righteousness,
and Your Profound Holiness!
For It is You Who Made All That Exists,
From the Mightiest Galaxies to the Tiniest Atom.

Every morning, precisely at 5:30AM (otherwise known as "Oh Dark Thirty"), Tippy the Aussie Cattle Dog wakes up, runs the full length of the house, and leaps onto my bed... all 45 pounds of her. She proves Newton's Laws of Motion as a daily mental exercise. Since I have no intention of getting up that early, I hit the SNOOZE bar (push her away) and she curls up at my feet for another half-hour. Then I finally get up at six, get dressed, and take her for her morning walk of 2-4 miles.

Depending on the Season of the Year, the sun could be shining brightly at that hour, or it could be completely dark. In between these extremes, in Spring and Autumn, Tippy's Walk falls into that magical space between Night and Day, when the Morning Star shines brightly, followed by a Spectacular Sunrise. The weather isn't as extreme during those months either, not too hot and not too cold. It's a Perfect Moment, and I get to enjoy it several times a year.

That incredible Morning Star isn't a "star" at all, but is the Planet Venus. It's similar in size to our own Planet Earth, but much closer to the Sun. Since it is shrouded in clouds, it has been a planet of mystery for millennia. Everyone from Ancient Astronomers to Science Fiction Authors have speculated as to what lies beneath those clouds.

The cloud cover was romanticized, and B-Movies featured lovely Venusian Maidens living in a Secret Paradise, concealed by the protective cloud cover. It didn't help matters that the Planet was named after the Ancient Roman Goddess of Erotic Love. Oh Well.

Now, due to Scientific Exploration, we know that Venus is the HOTTEST Planet in our Solar System, even hotter than Mercury. And that Beautiful, Silky, Shimmery, Cloud Cover is made up of Sulfuric Acid! Even Though the Planet Venus makes a lovely appearance every morning, it can be scary too.

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, a Star announced His Birth to Gentile Magi from afar. The Star led them to a helpless Newborn, Whom they worshiped as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

In the Book of Revelation, Jesus announces Himself as "The Bright and Morning Star". But He is not a helpless Baby anymore. This is the fulfillment of the Messianic Prophecies that depict Him as King of Kings, Lord of Lords, and the Judge of the Living and the Dead.

From now on, when seeing the Morning Star in the rosy predawn moment, I will think of Jesus in His Glorious Majesty.

Oh, by the way, another Name for Jesus is "The Sunrise" (Malachi 4:2)
