Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our One and Only God!
How Excellent is Your Most Holy Name!
How Wonderful,
How Holy,
How Righteous
and How Just and True You Are!
For You Alone Are Worthy Of Praise and Worship,
And You Alone Transcend Time and Space,
For You Alone Are The Creator of All That Is!

We ask for forgiveness for ourselves,
Dear Father, and we Pray for Our Nation.
We ask You to reverse the trends of evil and selfishness
that have taken hold in our own Land.
We beg that You will restore Faith in You,
The One True God,
and that Our own Nation will Once Again
be Known as one who keeps Her Promises to Her Friends and Allies.

For it is Not By Might,

But By Your Spirit that the enemy will be overcome.

Archaeologists and Historians find a common pattern in the Temples and Shrines of the Ancient World. Especially in Egypt, we see the ruins of a grandiose facade leading through huge peristyle halls of soaring columns. But the god did not reside there in view of the people. After several inner courts and hallways, at the very end of the structure would be a tiny windowless room where the idol resided. There, the priests ministered to the idol, in darkness. Of course, just to keep the people engaged, the idol would come out of its inner sanctum once or twice a year, carried with great pomp and ceremony on the shoulders of the priests, surrounded carefully so that the people couldn't get close enough to see that the idol was just a piece of stone or wood.

While it may be noted that the actual floor plan of these temples somewhat resembled that of the Desert Tabernacle, or even Solomon's Temple, there are huge differences. Also, bear in mind that, even as Solomon dedicated his gorgeous structure, he knew in his heart that The One True God Of the Universe does NOT dwell in houses made with human hands, and no Temple, no matter how magnificent, can contain Him.

Remember, too, that the adversary, who goes by many names, is a master of disguises and counterfeit. And we also know that a counterfeit HAS to resemble the REAL THING, or it is not going to fool anybody.

In this Passage of Scripture, Paul muses in his letter to the Congregation in Corinth that: If ONLY people had realized that Jesus was the Messiah, they wouldn't have crucified him. This coincides with some of the Last Words of Jesus on the Cross:

"Father, Forgive Them, For They Know Not What They Do."

The Name Paul gives to Jesus in this Letter is "The Lord of Glory". "Glory" has so many meanings that I can't type them all here, but one thing is for certain. It can't be shut up in a box, or an idol, or even a magnificent temple. "Glory" transcends all of that, and can only be looked upon with marvel and awe.
