Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed,
Magnificent,
and Sanctified
is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed and How True is Your Word,
and How Mighty!
How Glorious,
to Span the Millennia,
To be Unfettered by Time and Space,
To Know The End from the Beginning
and the Beginning from The End!

For it is You, Oh LORD,
Who designed the Galaxies with Your Compass,
And Mapped Out the Vast Reaches of Space
With Your Word and Your Omniscient Imagination!
Scientists tell us even the heavens are finite.
But YOU are Infinite!

LORD, remind us ALWAYS to Worship You,
and not Your Creation.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.

Just last night, I was surfing around on the Internet, and found a very old segment of the Tonight Show. Johnny's Guest was a very young Billy Graham.

Rev. Graham had just returned from a Crusade in South Korea, and he spoke with awe at the size of the crowds. On the Last Night of the Crusade, there were an estimated 1,100,000 people on the grounds. This was in 1973, and it was so strange that a small Middle Eastern Sect that started two millennia ago among a tiny group of Jews, would appeal to so many East Asian People. After all, they came from a totally different Ethnic Group, Religious Tradition, Culture, and World View. And yet...there they were. (Remember, Woodstock was reportedly 500,000 people, and had occurred a mere five years earlier, and everybody thought THAT was awesome.) Why this didn't make world news like Woodstock did is a mystery. Perhaps it was because it was halfway around the world, or Christianity, or Asians that caused the Media to ignore such an event. Do YOU remember reading breathless News Coverage of this? Me Neither.

By a happy "coincidence", my morning reading was in Acts Chapter 10, which matches Today's Scripture. I didn't plan it that way. Nevertheless, it goes well with my random choosing of the Johnny Carson Video that I happened across last night. As I am fond of saying, "There are NO coincidences."

Acts 10 tells us the Story of Peter and Cornelius, a Roman Officer. Peter was a devout Jew, but also an Apostle of Jesus Christ. That just meant that he believed that Jesus was the Promised Messiah. Peter continued to observe the Jewish Dietary Laws, attend Synagogue, and eschew the company of Uncircumcised Gentiles, especially those of the Pagan, Roman, Military, Variety.

While staying at the home of Simon the Tanner, in Jaffa, Peter fell asleep on the roof and had a vision of all kinds of Traif Food.

Peter had been hungry when he had fallen asleep, but not THAT hungry! Then a voice from heaven said "Take and Eat". It took three times to convince Peter that what God has declared Clean is going to be CLEAN.

Right about this same time, Centurion Cornelius, a Pagan Roman Occupier, was also having a Vision, telling him to send an envoy all the way to Jaffa from Caesaria and bring back Peter. When the "unclean" Gentiles knocked on Peter's door, Peter willingly went with them to Cornelius's house. He realized that his Vision had been about a LOT more than a Bacon Cheeseburger being OK to eat.

When Peter arrives at the home of Cornelius, the Roman Officer does something crazy: He falls down before Peter in an act of worship. YIKES! Peter immediately reacts that Worship should only go to God, the One True God, The LORD OF ALL. He is the Lord of All, not just Jews, not just Middle Easterners, not just Europeans, not just White People, not just Westerners.

Rev. Graham got a taste of the Lord-of-All when he visited Korea over a Half-Century ago.

Even Johnny Carson seemed impressed. It's tame for all people to admit:
