Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD Our God
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Are You,
LORD God of Power And Might,
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
and Omnipresent,
And Yet, You Are "The God Who Sees"
Even the Smallest Personal Thing in Our Lives.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Even though I was raised as an avid fan of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, I had never gotten to see them play in Tanglewood, their Summer Quarters in the Berkshire Mountains. Perhaps it was just too big a project for Dad to haul a wife and six kids nearly 200 miles, stay in a motel go to a concert, and drive the 200 back again.That was especially true because only he and I, the eldest, were really interested in Classical Music anyway.

Finally, after a lifetime of not attending concerts at Tanglewood, my sisters and I purchased tickets to see Roger Daltry (of the WHO...the BAND, not the World Health Organization) in Concert in the same venue that the BSO holds their concerts. We reserved some inexpensive accommodations, and Tippy stayed the weekend at her Personal Trainer and Boyfriend's (a Fox Terrier named Cheerio) house. I will make a quick note that, although my DOG has a Personal Trainer and a Boyfriend, I have neither. But I digress.

I did the driving, and it was about three hours West on the Massachusetts Turnpike in the blazing heat...until the Monsoons struck about halfway there. The rain was so bad that people were driving with their blinkers on and turning off the road. By the time we arrived in Pittsfield and unpacked, it was sunny and hot again.

We had an awesome dinner, and then headed out to the venue. We are all veterans of Rock Concerts, made sure we were wearing no metal in our "foundation garments", and had transferred our belongings into teeny tiny purses that we thought would be the only thing admissible into the gates.

We were directed to park (for free) on a lovely grassy area in neat little rows. As we walked to the gates, we were surrounded by folks dragging beach chairs, picnic coolers, metal carts full of picnic furniture, candelabras, bottles of wine, cases of beer and piles of food. All these people just found their spot on the grass and set up their elegant buffet, complete with wineglasses, candlelight, and wheels of Brie. It was the longest day of the year, Summer Solstice, so it was easy to thread our way through the little encampments to find our seats in the "Shed".

The opening act was good, but as a Professional Musician myself, I think she talked too much between songs. While this might work in a small intimate setting when you are the headliner, it didn't work for an "Opening Act". She was opening for ROGER DALTRY for crying out loud.

During Intermission, it was STILL Daylight, even though it was almost 9:00PM. We strolled around the grounds some more, carefully avoiding stepping on anyone's blanket or beach chairs. (Wouldn't want to tip over the candles and wine!). The gong sounded, and we were back in our seats.

Roger was Terrific, even though he is 80 years old. He did mostly WHO songs, some requests, and some covers. He joked with the audience and pretended to be looking at notes from the audience about what to sing next. At one point, a woman in the audience yelled at him to "Take off his shirt!" as he was soaked in sweat from head to toe. He responded that "There is nothing attractive about an 80 year old man with no shirt on" and everybody laughed. He continued in the soaked shirt for over two hours without a break.

When the show was over, we headed back to the car with all the elegant party-goers, who had packed up their chairs, tables, bottles, candles, and left-over Brie. It was a very orderly exit, but, in the meantime, the sun had gone down. The expanse of lawn was plunged into total darkness, as the sun had finally gone down and there were no lights on the property. We just followed the crowd, which moved in a stream back to the grassy area where we had parked. Exit was easy, and we were back at the motel in no time at all.

The T-Shirts were too expensive, so I got one the next day at a shop that says:

I MAY
BE OLD
BUT I
GOT TO
SEE ALL
THE COOL
BANDS.

In this Chapter of John's Gospel, and also in the very first chapter of the same Book, Jesus is called "The Light". Here, in Chapter 8, He is called "The Light of the World". This world" is not just the People of Jesus's ancestors, not just the Jews, not just the Roman Empire, and not just the People who live in the Western World. He's talking about everybody. This is confirmed in John 1, where it says "The Light that lighteth all men" (John 1:4)

Of course, there are those who would argue that the Gospel of John is in the NEW Testament, and therefore doesn't apply to anybody but Christians. To that, I will show Isaiah (An Old Testament Prophet) speaking of the Coming Messiah:

‘It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant
To raise up the tribes of Jacob,
And to restore the preserved ones of Israel;
I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles,
That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”

That means EVERYBODY.

When the grounds of Tanglewood were bathed in the Mid-Summer Sunlight, I was able to navigate easily around all the beach chairs and picnic blankets. It was not problem finding our way to our seats, and no problem gazing at the distant mountains. Finding the restrooms and gift shop was a breeze during Intermission, and finding our chairs again when the gong sounded was stress-free and pleasant.

However, after the Sun went down, finding a path through the maze of people and their belongings became difficult and treacherous. I didn't want to step on a blanket, trip on a beach chair, knock over somebody's candlesticks, or step in a pile of Brie. Fitting in with the organic wave of people heading out towards the gates seemed to be the only way to safely get to the cars.

It can be like that in life sometimes. In the absence of LIGHT, ordinary things can become pitfalls and traps. We have to navigate the obstacles by becoming part of the wave of Humanity, surging forward. While this was a lovely crowd of "Nice" People, it brought to mind a WHO Concert in Cincinnati in 1979

Going against the "Crowd", especially in the Absence of LIGHT, is very dangerous. But sometimes, going WITH the Crowd can be deadly too. It may be easier, but you might just end up at the wrong gate.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 26

Of David.

1 Vindicate me, O Lord,
for I have walked in my integrity,
and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering.
2 Prove me, O Lord, and try me;
test my heart and mind.
3 For your steadfast love is before my eyes,
and I walk in faithfulness to you.*

4 I do not sit with the worthless,
nor do I consort with hypocrites;
5 I hate the company of evildoers,
and will not sit with the wicked.

6 I wash my hands in innocence,
and go around your altar, O Lord,
7 singing aloud a song of thanksgiving,
and telling all your wondrous deeds.

8 O Lord, I love the house in which you dwell,
and the place where your glory abides.
9 Do not sweep me away with sinners,
nor my life with the bloodthirsty,
10 those in whose hands are evil devices,
and whose right hands are full of bribes.

11 But as for me, I walk in my integrity;
redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12 My foot stands on level ground;
in the great congregation I will bless the Lord.

I’m soooo thankful God’s Light is for gentiles, too.

I also am shocked R.D. is 80. Time flies by on this Earth. All the more reason to be ready and help others ready for the greatest, Lord Jesus Christ.

I agree!

And we are called to be “lights” for the LIGHT, to spread the light around. :-)
