Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Dear Father In Heaven,
How Hallowed is Your Most Wonderful Name!
We Love You With Our Whole Heart
With Our Whole Soul
With Our Whole Strength
And With Our Whole Being.
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship
You Alone Are The One true Holy and Righteous God.
Rock of All Ages,
Our Creator,
You Have Made Us,
and All That Is.
Teach us day by Day
That it is Not by Might,
Not by Power,
But By Your Spirit That We Shall Overcome.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

My husband's cousin Joe was an A&R man in Los Angeles back in the mid 1960's. At the time, there was a movement in San Francisco towards an American Version of the British Invasion Rock Bands that had been dominating the airwaves since the early 60's. Blues and Bluegrass were being blended with Psychedelia to form a "new" sound, and, of course, the American Record Companies wanted to get in on the action. Joe was sent by his employer to the Haight Ashbury district to (as he put it) "sign anything that's breathing". The results were that the people he signed to the label became the most famous American Rock Bands in the World, and Joe became President of the Record Company. I sometimes see him in Documentaries about the Music Explosion of the 1960's. (Joe and nearly everybody else in this story are now deceased. But the names of the Artists and performers live on as what is now known as "Classic Rock".)

Imagine having a cousin who is World Famous!

Once again, I will link to a portion of Handel's Messiah: Behold The Lamb of God.

In the Oratorio, this Chorus is followed by the Solo Aria "He was Despised and Rejected" which is lifted entirely from Isaiah Chapter 53. In Isaiah's Prophecy, the Messiah is described as going meekly to His Death like a sacrificial lamb.

John the Baptist knew, from the time he leaped with joy in his mother's womb to the day he was baptizing people in the Jordan, that his cousin Yeshua was the Messiah. Renaissance Art shows them playing together as children. Although they lived far apart (it was a three-day journey from Nazareth to Jerusalem), Mary and Joseph would have traveled to the City for Passover, and could have lodged with Elizabeth, Zacharias, and little John. The boys were just a few months apart in age, so it would have worked out great. This is all just speculation, but it does make sense. What is Scriptural though is that John knew Who Jesus was even before he was born. Imagine seeing Him show up at the Jordan requesting Baptism!

But, instead of saying:

"Hey guys! That's my COUSIN! He's the Messiah! He's gonna get rid of the Romans for Good. He's the new King!"

He said:

"Behold the Lamb of God, Who Takes Away the Sins of the World."

John was stating that The Messiah would be sacrificed like an innocent lamb for the sins of the world. The Conquering King would come later, but first, Isaiah's prophecy had to be fulfilled.

Despite my constant, frustrating efforts, I never did get signed to Joe's Record Label. God had other plans, and that's why I'm here today. And for that, I'm GRATEFUL.
