Gay man writes letter after Pope's statement – and gets a reply

Rome - The Pope's stance on social diversity was once again a topic of public debate following recent patronising statements. Now a young homosexual has published a letter in response from Francis.Published on 03.06.2024 at 11:51 –

A homosexual man who was expelled from a seminary for this reason and turned to Pope Francis has received a response from the pontiff: "The Church must be open to all. Go ahead with your vocation," he wrote, the newspaper "Il Messaggero" reported on Sunday. The 22-year-old Lorenzo Michele Noo Caruso had written to the Vatican at the end of May.

"I was expelled from the seminary because I said I was gay," he told the newspaper. He wrote to Francis following his recent statements. He considers the Pope's words, which included in his reply: "Jesus calls everyone, everyone", to be "wonderful". That gives him courage. He also sees in his immediate church environment that attitudes towards social diversity are changing. Bishop Giuseppe Betori of Florence, for example, has decided to set up an LGBT pastoral commission in the pastoral care of families. Caruso is currently studying history at the University of Florence. He has high hopes for the World Synod. He trusts "that it will be a turning point" and a sign of acc moreommodation towards LGBTIQ+ people.

The Pope recently caused a stir with homophobic statements. In a discussion with around 200 Italian bishops, he spoke out against the admission of "active" homosexuals to seminaries. Because there is already "too much faggotry " there. The Vatican explained that the head of the Church "never intended to offend anyone or to express himself in homophobic terms ". He asked for forgiveness from those "who feel off a term that has been reproduced by others". (cph) He asked for forgiveness from those "who feel off the use of a term that has been reproduced by others". (cph)

According to canon, priest can be gay, but not actively gay. Nor can a heterosexual priest have sexual relations.

A man cannot identify as “gay” and be admitted. “Gay” is abstract political identity, a construct. 🙄 It is not an authentic reality.

This is a perfect example of why I say this guy is gaslighting us. One day he says there’s too much faggotry in the seminary and the next day he tells a homosexual to pursue a vocation to the priesthood. So many examples of this. Classic gaslighting.

BTW, I’m not convinced he’s validly pope, on several accounts.

Bergoglio is so... Bergoglian. What does it mean when he says “Go ahead with your vocation”? Does that mean that the seminary which allegedly booted him has to readmit him? Or that another seminary has to take him? I’d love to hear his former seminary’s point of view on all this. Was he hitting on other seminarians, pushing LGBT propaganda, etc.? Does Bergoglio know or care about the details? Likely not. This is drive-by Bergloglianism at its best. He vomits out his usual inane, half-baked platitudes, “everyone is called!”... and then moves on with the problem of Lorenzo to be dealt with by everyone else.

What does it mean when he says “Go ahead with your vocation”

Everyone has a vocation--which means a "calling" from God. Whether we hear, and whether we follow it, varies. This guy's vocation is to stop being a poof, get his head on straight, go to confession (thoroughly), and be welcomed into real--God willing, everlasting--life.

Whether he has a vocation to the priesthood remains to be seen.

. . . And I neglected to mention, having an inclination to homosexuality is, according to Church law, a no-go for the priesthood.

A gay man expelled from a seminary? The only way this is credible is if he was expelled for something like theft, vandalism, or other crime unrelated to sex. For decades, seminaries have been seen as havens for homosexuals.

Francis Writes to Homosexual Ex-Seminarian: "Continue Your Vocation"

Francis wrote a handwritten letter on 1 June to Lorenzo Michele Noè Caruso, 22, a history student from Florence who was expelled from the seminary of the diocese of La Spezia after revealing his homosexual temptations with which he identifies.

After Francis reportedly complained on 20 May about too many homosexual clerics and the need to expel even half-homosexual, effeminate men from the seminary, Caruso told his story to IlMessaggero.it (29 May).

He also wrote a letter to Francis, who replied immediately. On Saturday, Francis wrote to Caruso:

"Do you know that clericalism is a plague? It is an ugly worldliness and, as a great theologian says, 'worldliness is the worst thing that can happen to the Church, even worse than the time of the concubine Popes'. Jesus calls everyone, everyone. Some people think that the Church is a customs office [where everybody is checked] and that is bad. The Church must be open to everyone. Brother, continue with your vocation".

Caruso called Francis' response "beautiful": "The real Pope [Francis] is not the one we were led to believe. This letter gives me hope. The seminary is still a dream that has not been put aside".

Imagine if Caruso had written to Francis to complain that he had been expelled from the seminary for his love of the Holy Mass and the Latin liturgy.
