Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty and Everlasting Father,
How Glorious and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
Almighty and Eternal,
Glorious and Transcendent,
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days,
King of Kings,
and Lord of Lords!

You Are Our Peace,

The State of Texas is in the NEWS a lot lately, due to the situation on the Border. Texas was once the Largest State in the Union, before the addition of Alaska, and, like Alaska, has oceans of oil under the ground. There was a time when most of the oil used in the United States came from Texas and Oklahoma, and a lot of people became millionaires seemingly overnight. Movies and TV shows popped up to exploit this fact. Some were dramatic and some were comical, but you could always tell which millionaires came from Texas by their huge luxury cars, adorned in front with the horns of Texas Longhorn Cattle. Like everything else from Texas, these horns were huge.

A traditional festival that draws thousands of tourists to Pamplona, Spain, is The Running of the Bulls. Inevitable, somebody gets gored by the bull's deadly weapon, his horns. Some say this crazy festival dates back to the Minoan Civilization of Ancient Crete. Whatever the ancient origin, horns still gore, and people still bleed to death even in our "enlightened century".

Today's Name comes from the Prophecy of Zacharias in the Prelude to The Christmas Story. Zacharias has been mute for the entire nine months of his wife's pregnancy, but now has been given back his power of speech in a Glorious Prayer of Thanksgiving. His joy is not just at becoming a father at his advanced age, but he knows that his son will grow up to be the Forerunner of the Messiah, Who is also on the way.

He invokes several Beautiful Names for the Messiah, including the One we are looking at today. He calls the soon-to-be-born Messiah the "Horn of Salvation".

As the horns of the Texas Longhorn symbolized Strength and Power, so did the horns of a Ram or a Bull in Ancient Times.

The Ram's Horn could also be made into a Musical Instrument. Yet, it was an instrument that Announced the Arrival of a King, or opened a Temple Service, or preceded soldiers into battle. The Ram's Horn was a Signal for Assembly, a Call to Prayer, and brought down the Walls of Jericho. It is a Powerful Symbol and a Powerful Name.
