I happen to agree with you, but it does weigh in as a factor, especially if one does not ascribe to Sola Scriptura, which itself is not attested to in Scripture. If one comes up with a novel doctrine that has never been embraced for the first 1600 years of Christianity,

Wrong.

Jesus appealed only to Scripture in His dealings with the Pharisees, during His temptation in the wilderness, and on the Road to Emmaus when He expounded about Himself to the disciples.

Acts 17:11Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

People were commended by God for using Scripture to verify Paul's message.

There is no other source of Truth but God's word. Everything needs to be measured against that to verify.

Another poster put up maybe twenty verses
Containing ‘It Is Written...’
Even I was shocked !
Jesus in his “Lazarus and the Rich man’ said ; “If they don’t believe Moses and the Prophets they won’t believe a man Risen from the Dead”
Some folks are So beheld by TRADITION
They will argue against the TRUTH.

“There is no other source of Truth but God’s word. Everything needs to be measured against that to verify.”

Unless your prone to quote Augustine, Pius IX, or Joan of Arc and consider that “Holy Spirit inspired”?

It is you that are wrong. None of what you set forth amounts to saying that the Bible alone is sufficient for all a Christian needs to know. Being commended for doing something is one thing; saying that it establishes a rule of faith is an entirely different thing. If "the Bible Alone" is such a foundational doctrine, it would be explicitly stated in the Scriptures themselves. It just isn't, and you know it. Every time this comes up, no one can produce a single verse to prove it.
