I don't suppose any of these church members would join me down at the abortion clinic to protest abortion would they?

Oh wait, they are already down there working as clinic escorts.

Now do you all get why I post these things?

I do. This church is a false heretical one.

Trashing one of the oldest Christian hymns from Ireland.

Just because they want to make trashy songs doesn’t mean they have to trash someone else’s.

“Written by Carolyn Winfrey Gillette in 1998”

At least it mentions Jesus and mentions “birth”. My problem is the focus should be on Jesus and not men or women.

But this thing was written in 1998. Imagine if it were written today by some feminazi.

I hate when they mess with traditional hymns, but IIRC, this was an Irish tune long before the hymn lyrics were set to the tune. Many hymns have tunes identical to secular songs.

And these “woman” lyrics ... I don’t have a problem with them. If it says God is a woman, I missed that, and I apologize. But God is/was God to the women listed there, and they were amazing human beings.

So, I guess ... best me up...? I dunno.

If women have been left out of the story (the biblical narrative) how did the hymnwriter know about them to mention them in the hymn? I, a man, know about all of the women mentioned here. Liturgical churches commemorate the feast days of plenty of women saints. In the Orthodox Church, St. Mary of Egypt is commemorated on a Sunday during Lent. And the Myhrr Bearing women are commemorated on the second Sunday after Easter. The Gospel for Easter tells how the women went to the tomb and were the first to hear of Christ’s resurrection. They were center stage on the biggest event.

One of the most beautiful hymns ever written... nothing exclusionary about it, it can be sung by anyone. Very sad to cheapen it over what is essentially jealousy. Why is it the feminists never learned the “the meek shall inherit the Earth” and “the least shall be first,” etc.

One these churches is about a mile and half from where I’m sitting. In fact, one of the female “pastors” tried to buy our old house which is not far from there. It was a laughable offer, IIRC. (This was ten years ago.)
