Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Praise You, Lord!
How good it is to sing praises to You;
For You Are Gracious,
And a song of praise is fitting.

Out of the Depths of Despair I Cry To You, Dear Father,
For You See All, and Hear All!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised And Worshiped,
For You Alone Are The One True God!
You Are Omniscient,
and You Always Know The Truth,
Because You ARE The Truth!
Deliver Your Children From The Lies and Slander
Perpetrated by the Media,
and by The enemy of Our Souls.
For What Shield have we against a Lying Tongue?
What Defense have we against an ugly rumor,
a false witness,
a bad report,
or a mean gossip,
a confidence betrayed?
These are darts and arrows that sting and burn more than any earthly physical weapons,
and often come from those we trust the most.
Dear Father, we Run To You, to Your Everlasting Arms,
Fleeing this vicious world of Lies, Calumny and Slander,
To The Comfort of Your Gracious and Perfect Light of Truth,
That Shines So Brightly
that All Lies are Shriveled Up in the Glare of Your
Infinite Justice and Righteousness.
Like The Fires of the Broom Tree (Juniper),
which burn brighter, longer, and hotter than any other wood,
Obliterate with Fire the Lies of the Enemy, We Pray.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

There was a long line ahead of me at the take out window. As my car crept forward, I was able to read the posted menu, press the button, and place my order. The speaker squawked back at me, and, since I'm hearing impaired, I couldn't make out what the person was saying. Oh well. Whatever. A bagel and medium coffee shouldn't be more than $5.00. When I got to the window, the waitress handed me the bag, but refused my money.

"Somebody already paid for it." she said.

I was so flustered that I handed her the $5.00 anyway, and said,

"OK...so this is for the next guy."

I drove away joyous, but very puzzled. Who would have done this? Never mind, the bagel and coffee tasted better than any I have had before or since.

Just as the the Book of Isaiah has a lot of Verses that remind Christians of Christmas, the Prophet had a lot to say about Good Friday as well. These Chapters are so descriptive of the Passion of the Christ that Scholars refer to them as "The Suffering Servant" Chapters. Starting in Chapter 42, the Servant, who is God's "Elect", goes through immense anguish, culminating in Isaiah 53. The reason for this suffering is revealed in the 53rd Chapter, as the "Elect Servant" is taking upon Himself the sins of the world. No human being can do that. It would indicate that the Messiah would not only be a Conqueror and a King, but also The Atonement for all of our sins.

The person who paid for my coffee and bagel did not have to do that. Also, he would have had to pay for his OWN coffee and bagel before he could pay for anybody else's. That is why it would be impossible for an ordinary person to once-and-for-all atone for the sins of the world. We are ALL sinners, so it would have to be someone who was sinless, ie: God Himself.
