Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem (4/5/24)[Prayer]

The Names and Titles of God (TMy Strength)

Exodus 15:1-3

15 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

3 The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name.

The King James Version

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father, Who Art in Heaven,
Holy and Sanctified is Your Glorious Name Forever!
We Come Into Your Holy Presence To Worship You,
And You Alone.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
Ancient of Days,
Rock of Ages,
LORD of Hosts,
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
You Know the end from the beginning,
And the beginning from the end.
You Are The Author of Life,
Our Precious Creator,
You formed us in the secret places of our mother's womb,
And have a perfect plan for each and every one of us.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

While waiting in the hot sun to vote in the 2012 Presidential Election, I found myself in a bevy of elderly women from the enormous senior apartment complex across the street. Even though I was 60 at the time, I didn't feel like an old lady at all, and definitely didn't "fit in". They were all grumbling and complaining about the Florida heat. To make pleasanter conversation, I said:

"I wish I had brought my guitar, so I could entertain you all."

I did NOT get the reaction I expected. One woman started it, and they all seemed to pick up the thread:

"Oooo..Do you know any Pete Seeger? We LOVE Pete Seeger! We used to go see him in the Village back-in-the-day" Oooo it would be so NICE if you played us some Pete Seeger!"

I was stunned. All I knew about Pete Seeger was that he was a card-carrying communist, that he tried to stifle Bob Dylan's creativity and turn him into a shill for his politics, that he endangered the lives of many when he tried to chop (with an axe!) the electrical cables at the Newport Folk Festival, and that he stole songs from old Black Guys in prison. Yeah...THAT Pete Seeger. I "expressed myself" to the old ladies, and, if we weren't in the voting line, they probably would have ganged up on me and beaten me to death with their tote bags.

Perhaps Ol' Pete felt he had a right to commandeer "Folk" music because he was a "folk". This was especially evident on a single that was released in 1950. On one side was "Goodnight Irene" which was written by Leadbelly (The Black Guy in Prison), and the other side was Tsena Tsena.

In 1941, when the song was written, Israel had not yet become a state, but the ideas of collective farming had already become popular (The Kibbutz). The folks who initiated these farms were called "Pioneers", which must have appealed to people like Pete Seeger. And so, the song became a part of the American Folk Scene.

I was a "Folky" back when I got my first guitar, and a big Dylan Fan, but the Beatles appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show changed all that forever.

Now...let's get back to Tsena, Tsena" . I had never learned the song back in the sixties, but the tune was vaguely familiar to me.

When I began going to a Pentecostal Church in 1981, one of the favorite songs of the congregation used that very tune as a setting for Exodus 15:1

It went like this:

I will sing unto the Lord
For He has triumphed gloriously
The Horse and rider thrown into the sea (2x)

The Lord, My God, My Strength, My Song,
Has now become my victory.(2x)
The Lord is God and I will praise Him,
My Father's God, and I will exalt Him! (2x)

Then I got a job as the Activities Director in a Kosher Nursing Home and learned the original version, in Hebrew, which has nothing to do with Exodus 15 at all! It came full circle.

Maybe if I had sung "Tsena Tsena" in Hebrew to the bunch of old ladies in the voting line, I would not feel so all alone.

The first of many descriptive names and Titles of God in this Passage is My Strength comes from God, as I am a REAL "Old Lady" now. I still ride the Harley and play (Electric) Guitar, but I sure couldn't do it alone.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 7

A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning Cush, a Benjaminite.

1 O Lord my God, in you I take refuge;
save me from all my pursuers, and deliver me,
2 or like a lion they will tear me apart;
they will drag me away, with no one to rescue.

3 O Lord my God, if I have done this,
if there is wrong in my hands,
4 if I have repaid my ally with harm
or plundered my foe without cause,
5 then let the enemy pursue and overtake me,
trample my life to the ground,
and lay my soul in the dust.
Selah

6 Rise up, O Lord, in your anger;
lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies;
awake, O my God;* you have appointed a judgement.
7 Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered around you,
and over it take your seat* on high.
8 The Lord judges the peoples;
judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness
and according to the integrity that is in me.

9 O let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
but establish the righteous,
you who test the minds and hearts,
O righteous God.
10 God is my shield,
who saves the upright in heart.
11 God is a righteous judge,
and a God who has indignation every day.

12 If one does not repent, God* will whet his sword;
he has bent and strung his bow;
13 he has prepared his deadly weapons,
making his arrows fiery shafts.
14 See how they conceive evil,
and are pregnant with mischief,
and bring forth lies.
15 They make a pit, digging it out,
and fall into the hole that they have made.
16 Their mischief returns upon their own heads,
and on their own heads their violence descends.

17 I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness,
and sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.
