During the full-scale invasion, Russian troops damaged or wholly destroyed at least 630 churches, prayer houses, and other religious facilities in Ukraine.

In the Religion forum, on a thread titled The Impact of the Russian Invasion on Faith-based Communities in Ukraine, Chad C. Mulligan wrote: The obliteration of Ukrainian borders, language and culture is Ruzzia's final solution. This of course includes all religion that isn't 100% Russian Orthodox. That's pathetic. The Ukrainians were shelling Ukrainians living in Eastern Ukraine because they were ethnic Russians. The Ukraine's constitution talks about preserving Ukrainian ethnic purity. Zeepers slide into ethnic cleansing remarks (i.e., "The only good Russian is a dead Russian") and refer to them as Orcs (subhuman). Zelensky 'obliterated' ethnically Russian churches in the Ukraine. Yet you just reverse the truth and you just 'Blame the Russians' again.
While many aspects of the Russo-Ukrainian war—such as the annexation of Crimea, the shootdown of passenger airliner MH17, and the creation of an autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church—have been widely discussed by experts, the plight of religious minorities in occupied eastern Ukraine has largely gone ignored.
One of the participants at the US Department of State’s second annual Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom was Oleksandr Zaiets, the board director of Ukraine’s Institute of Religious Freedom (IRF). (He's also the founder)
Yeah, no bias t be seen here at all. /sarcasm
I got suspicious on the timing of this report, seeing as how this conflict is now entering into it's 3rd year and they are just now making the claim that at least 630 religious sites were damaged or looted due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
That's pretty evasive wording they employ there also. They do not define what are considered as religious sites, nor do they even claim that these sites were damaged or looted by Russians explicitly.
This kind of deceptive reporting is used to create an image, and in this case the image is that the Russians did it. But yet they never actually state that the Russians were responsible.
My take is that this is most likely more BS to garner sympathy & support for something that could have been resolved without bloodshed, but Zelenskyy decided to side with evil and the devil's supporters.
It's Zelensky tearing down churches and imprisoning priests, not Putin.
And, never mind, that Zelensky regime has gone out of its way to pollute Ukraine with LGBT agenda.
Which is worse? Churches damaged by colateral damage due to war, or churches closed down by their dictatorial President?
In addition, I find it rather bizarre that the US Department of State is holding its second annual Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom, when in fact they have been on a decades long sojourn to eradicate religion in this country, and in particular their focus has been primarily directed at Christianity, as well as, Judaism. Muslim good, Satan worship good, but Christians & Jews they are all pure evil and must be eradicated from the face of the earth.
Wasn’t it Zelensky who closed all the Orthodox churches with connections to Russia?
I can cite numerous legitimate sources. All you have is Moscow’s propaganda stories that have no independent corroboration.

There were Russian Orthodox churches who were acting to subvert Ukraine, once the war started. What would you do?
Ukrainian Orthodox not affected. They are different faiths. Ukrainian is closer to the Greek Orthodox.
It makes it pretty obvious who (or what) is behind it all then, doesn't it?
Is there Ukrainian Orthodox?
I know there’s Ukrainian Catholic, much closer to the Roman rite.
Never heard of Ukrainian Orthodox, though.
More Ukrainians are Eastern Orthodox than Catholic. We used to call them Russian Orthodox, but now since independence, the Russian and Ukrainian Orthodox churches split, and most Orthodox believers in Ukraine are now Ukrainian Orthodox.
Some Orthodox Christians in Ukraine refused to accept the Ukrainian hierarchy and remained loyal to the patriarch in Moscow. They are the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, though they are often called Russian Orthodox to distinguish themselves from those loyal to the Ukrainin patriarch in Kyiv.
For me it does. 🙂👍
Source? You know that is not true.
Thanks.
I knew this thread would bring derogatory lying feedback from pro-Russian elements.
In 2014 I personally visited a church in Slavyonsk that the Russians as used a base when they invaded the city. I saw the tank tracks in the parking lot and the rebuilt rooms. I also saw Ukrainians rebuilding their home, destroyed by the Ukrainians in the force needed to drive the Russians out.
The bottom line is that Russia is warring against a nation at peace, a nation that they signed a document to protect.
That is a lie. They are attempting to reclaim their invaded territory.
I first went to Ukraine in 2011 and have been their 18 times. I saw the shift in Ukrainians’ attitude towards Russia as a result of President Yanokovich being pro-Russian rather than pro-Ukrainian as he had promised. THE PEOPLE were fed up and drove him to Russia after he killed nearly 100 innocents in the Maidan demonstrations. Then Russia took over Crimea and occupied Donetsk.
Russian Orthodox churches in Ukraine are Moscow outposts.
I personally saw in Kyiv the dead body of an anti-Russian Ukrainian MP assassinated by Russian operatives.
These days it’s good to be suspicious. But if you go to the website you’ll see this report has been released annually for the last 3 years. I know of Protestant pastors the Russians murdered when they took over Donetsk, and this was before the war.
How do you know this is “deceptive reporting”?
Look, like most societies there’s a difference between the government and the people. I know a Ukrainian who got an MBA in America, returned to work in the government, but couldn’t because twice he was required to be corrupt. And that was 15 or 20 years ago.
