Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
Who can stand in the Day of Your Wrath?
How long can anyone think they can get away with Mocking You?
For You Are The Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer of Worlds,
The Vast Singularities in the Outer Reaches of Space are Your Creation,
Yet a Single Sparrow Does Not Fall from The Sky Without Your Notice.
How Then Can Any Of Us Expect To Circumvent Your Justice?
How Then Can Any Nation or People
Think They Can Go On Mocking You,
With Their Harlotries,
Their Witchcrafts,
and Their Idolatries?

Abba, Father, You have shown us time and again,
what happens to Nations that Oppress Your People.
Our Hearts Ache for Our Own Beloved Nation,
As we see her going down that deadly path!
We Have seen You Open The Earth,
We Have seen You change the tide of Battle.
We have seen the change in Fortunes in the economy.
Dear Father, Please Hear the Prayers of Your People,
And Change this Deadly Direction of Our Country,
Before it is too late!

Let all that has been Concealed

of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.

My friends find it amusing that, although I've been a Biker for 52 years, and a Rock Musician for more than that, I have NO INK. Part of the reason for this is that I don't like needles. Another part of the reason is that I am so rebellious that, among a crowd of people who got Tattoos, I just HAD to be different. It didn't matter that the congregation at Biker Church had enough ink to float a battleship.

The Book of Leviticus does have a prohibition against tattoos, but it is for the Levites in the Temple of God, and is against a pagan custom of marking oneself to commemorate the death of a family member. Since, as Christians, we are freed from Mosaic Law, I honestly don't have an opinion about tattoos one way or the other. I just don't have any myself. Some of the art is very intricate, and some is just crude. I am reminded of the Norman Rockwell painting where the Tattoo Artist is crossing off the name of the latest girlfriend and adding a new name. The big guy who is getting tattooed has a list of "exes" going down half his arm.

Another contributor to my lack of ink was the fact that Tattoos were illegal in Massachusetts (along with guns, fireworks, sparklers, and other "Blue Laws"). This has changed in recent years, and now everybody has ink...except ME. LOL.

Back in the Day, at various Motorcycle rallies and Biker parties, there was a mysterious RV parked by the campgrounds. It turned out that a member of our riding club had a Tattoo Studio in the RV. It was, of course, illegal, but his standards of cleanliness were like that of a Hospital Operating Room. All of his instruments were subjected to great heat, to cleanse and sterilize them between "customers". I wonder if the now-legal tattoo parlors have the same standards as were employed by this "entrepreneur". Now, it seems that EVERYTHING is legal in Massachusetts, but, as St. Paul once said:

23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.(1 Corinthians 10:23-29 King James Version)

You may be wondering what all this has to do with Today's Name for God. The Author of Hebrews says that "Our God is a Consuming Fire". Fire not only cleanses, sterilizes, and purifies metals, it also consumes them, if the fire is hot enough.

There is a reason doctors, dentists, barbers, and tattoo artists put their instruments in the Autoclave. The intense heat is necessary to kill any microbes that could cross-contaminate and cause the spread of disease.

When the instruments come out of the Autoclave, it is as if they are "Brand New". The heat has consumed every trace of contaminant.

When we bring our sins to God, (Repentance), He cleanses us from all of it. He doesn't put it on a back burner, to smolder and simmer so He can bring it back later. It's Forgiven. Gone. Like it has passed through a consuming fire.

Prayers for those lost in their pride.

Father God, You alone are worthy to receive all honour and might and majesty and power and glory and honour and blessing, for you have created all things and You have made us for Your pleasure and to Your honour, and so I come today to offer myself to be used of You. Thank You, Father, for the spiritual gifts that You have given me. Lord, I know that today there are many evidences all around us that the spiritual gifts that You have graciously given to many in the Church, seem to be abused in the same way that they were misapplied in the church at Corinth.

Lord, I pray that You would use my spiritual gifts as well as my natural abilities to Your praise and glory and not for my own personal use or pride, and Lord, I accept that spiritual gifts are not necessarily an evidence of spirituality. Nevertheless Lord, I pray that I may grow in grace and in a knowledge of Jesus. May I grow spiritually and become mature in the faith, so that my spiritual gifts may be used as befitting a mature man or woman of God.

Humble me if necessary Lord, for I do not want to become puffed up with pride, knowing that You have been bestowed so much grace and generousity with the spiritual gifts that you have given to me. Help me to rightly use all that You have given me wisely and appropriately, and keep me ever low at the cross and broken before You.

Father, I praise and thank You for every spiritual gift I have, and I prayerfully dedicate each one back to You, so that they may be used as You would have me use them, to help and encourage other believers in these difficult times and to lift up Your name – for I desire that You increase in every area of my life and that I decrease, until it is not I, but Christ that lives in me and works through me.

Help me I pray, to discover the proper way to use my spiritual giftings, and I pray that You would teach me how exercise all my spiritual gifts, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus’ name,
