Jesus was asked what we need to do to be saved. Baptism wasn't in the answer. What must I do to be saved? (Acts 16:30 ESV).” And this is the most important answer in the world: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. (Acts 16:31 ESV).” Everything else is by definition, secondary.
