After that, he must be set free for a short time.Nowhere does it say that "Christ will be physically present on earth, reigning from the throne of David in Israel" -- Nowhere does this passage even imply a physical, earthly kingdom in Jerusalem, Israel.

And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They[a] had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
Jesus mentioned each time that His Kingdom is universal, spiritual and ecclesiastical
The souls of the martyrs are specifically mentioned as being in Heaven under the altar (Rev 6:9). Since those souls are also reigning, it is that they are still in Heaven.
Nowhere do we have any information that these are re-embodied souls. They are ruling with Christ, who in this vision is ruling from Heaven.
