Even though it it said the Jesus didn't force Judas to betray Him, He did know that Judas would.
So even though as long as we are breathing we can hope we may be saved, Jesus already knows whether or not we are.
Thus the paradox of free will and predestination.
C.S. Lewis discusses this (in "Mere Christianity" I think).
Basically he says that Jesus (and God) can see into the future, since they are "outside of time."
If that's true, then no paradox - as you said, you have free will AND Jesus/God know how you are going to choose.
No paradox at all. Foreknowledge doesn’t mean predetermined. That simple. We all have free will. Always had, always will.
Free will does not mean unpredictable. It means determined by the will of an agent. If you watch somebody take an action that does not mean they had no choice I the matter. Even if you watched them through a magic crystal ball that let you see their action before they took it.
