and what did Jesus call Peter? Mat 16:23 and Mark 8:33

He called Peter - Satan.

You see now how taking a verse out of context and can make you incorrectly judge a situation.

Answer: Only Jesus knows if Judas came to repent and have faith before his death.
I lean toward he did. Why? What did he do with the 30 pieces of silver? Then what did he do to himself? Does that not show repentance? But we leave Judas’ eternal destination in God’s hands, not man’s speculation.

I don't think it does. Most translations indicate Judas regretted what he did. He was remorseful and sorry.

But II Corinthians 7:10 indicates there there are two kinds of sorrow...

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

The worldly sorrow of Judas brought him a physical death. Perhaps eternal death as well.

we do not know because it is far above our pay grade

You are probably the only guy to “Get it”,
Besides me of course, but I try to not post a lot on controversial things. You stated it perfectly.

I believe he is damned as the Lord said it would better he (Judas) were not born and he despaired, a sin against the Holy Spirit. Just my opinion.

I am with you. In Israel, you did not leave a dead body to rot. They are buried, or some even cremated. I bring this up, because Judas was burst asunder. Split from gullet to the guts. Someone has to do that to him, or he hung from a tree long enough to rot until his guts spilled out. My thought, is he was hanged by the Pharisees and they gutted him for punishment for showing them up.

Then what did he do to himself?

Well, if so then I guess one can repent of a sin not yet committed?
