Either that or we’re going to get some advances which will enable million of people to go off world. As well, will cause all the deserts of earth to be turned green because of cheap desalinated sea water and all the high latitudes—ie canada and russia to be farmed because of super cheap electricity provided by fusion power plants.
The last two of these advances are built into the current rate of technological progress. They’ll happen in the next 5-10 years.
The first of these advances—the ability to go to the stars—and not just to the planets—is inferred by the rate compute improvements. That is, the AI math and science that will be needed to invent solutions for Mars in real time—which is what Elon Musk is aiming for with Grok....—the compute that powers that math constantly upgrading will also provide the new physics that gets people to the next stars.
It will be shockingly futuristic as railroads were to Indians in the 19th century.
You hit an excellent point that I must elaborate on.
Based on tech trends and current rate of technological innovation/revolution we’re destined to live among the Stars, Moons, and Planets. Musk, Branson, and others state this a lot.
There is a problem...
The current technology is equivalent to the technology of The Book of Revelation.
Not only that, but The Book mentions and refers to people living during that time as “Earth Dwellers”. It’s mentioned 11 times.
(Rev 3:10; 6:10; 8:13; 11:10 2xs; 13:8, 12, 14 2xs; 14:6; 17:8)
What happens to stop this tech advance?
I love sci-fi but considering the rate at which humanity seems hell bent on destroying itself, I think the planets and certainly the stars, are out of the question.
I doubt less that the technology is the problem as mankind’s corruptible human nature. The technology will be abused and misused long before it can provide any kind of positive benefit.
All this technology is simply enabling mankind to destroy itself faster.
