Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Dear Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed is Your Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Thank You For Your Provision, For Your Healing and Restoration
And For Being ALWAYS Faithful to Your Promises!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

When I was a new Believer in Christ, I got what seemed to be a "dream job", working in a Christian Book Store. The store was a fun place to work, but had the textbook franchise at a local (very liberal) Protestant Seminary. The Boss (who was Male, Baptist, and Conservative) felt that I could handle the customers, who were mostly Female, Feminist, and Marxist. He figured that, because I seemed pretty "hip", I could relate to them better than he could. But I was in for a surprise. Because I took the Bible seriously, the students thought I was a ripe target for debate and "GOTCHA" questions. Usually, I was pretty good at answering, but one day a Seminarian presented a whopper that I couldn't answer.
"If God didn't reveal His YHVH Name until the Book of Exodus, how come we see it used here in the second Chapter of Genesis? Hmmm? Can you answer me THAT one?"
Well, I couldn't answer it. I felt humiliated. I asked her to let me think about it overnight, and I would have the answer the following day.
There was no Internet available in those days, nor did I have a Theological Library at home, so I just prayed and prayed until I felt I had gotten the solution to this riddle.
The next day the student came into the Bookstore awaiting my answer. Here is what (I believe) the LORD gave me:
"It is generally believed that Moses, under the Guidance of the Holy Spirit, was the Author of the Torah. The Rabbis believed that, the Jews believed that, and even Jesus believed it. We also know that Moses wasn't an eyewitness to the Creation, but that his writings were the result of Inspiration. It is probable that Moses wrote these words during the Forty Years of wandering in the desert. He would have had plenty of time to write it all out. Critical scholars may debate whether Moses was the Author of the Torah, but Jesus believed it and so do I.
If Moses was writing under the Inspiration of God (Who certainly knows His Own Name!), and was writing the Torah in Retrospect, long after the Name had been revealed to him, then there was no problem with the Holy Name being used in Genesis."
She tried to argue that my point wasn't valid because it had never been established that Moses was the Author. I shrugged and said that Jesus had more authority on the matter than she did, and she stormed off in a huff. Oh Well. You can't win 'em all.
My little story illustrates that there are people who go into ministry as a profession rather than as a vocation. Paul ran into this on Mars Hill in Athens, when he was surrounded by Philosophers trying to debate with him. Paul had good answers, even quoting from the Ancient Greek Philosophers to help the group relate to the Gospel. But there were still some who sneered at his Message. The purpose of sharing the Gospel should be saving the lost. Success should not be measured by Debating Points, but by the sharing of the Love of God.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Psalm 16
A Miktam of David.
1 Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.’*
3 As for the holy ones in the land, they are the noble,
in whom is all my delight.
4 Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows;*
their drink-offerings of blood I will not pour out
or take their names upon my lips.
5 The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;
you hold my lot.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
I have a goodly heritage.
7 I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
8 I keep the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices;
my body also rests secure.
10 For you do not give me up to Sheol,
or let your faithful one see the Pit.
11 You show me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy;
in your right hand are pleasures for evermore.
