Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem (2/17/24)[Prayer]

The Names and Titles of God (YHVH -jireh God Provides)

Genesis 22

22 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

15 And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

19 So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.

(King James Version)

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty God, Abba Father!
How Blessed and Holy is Your Most Wonderful Name!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised and Worshiped;
You Alone Are Holy;
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!
How Glorious and Majestic You Are,
King of The Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Our All in All
and Rock of Ages.
Let Our Song Praise Your Saving Power
and Exalt Your Your Name,
forever and ever!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Thank you. Srednik feels the Divine Name JEHOVAH TSABAOTH fits best in this case, the “Commanding General of Angelic Armies of God,” (very specific) or “LORD of Hosts” (more open to interpretation).

We will get to that. I am studying these Wonderful Names one at a time. (By the Way, that One is one of my Favorites!) Welcome to the Garden of Prayer. Would you like to be on the ping list? It’s every day (for the last 14 years) and graphic-heavy so let me know if you would like that.

Thank you for your prayers and contribution to this meditation. :-)

Today I will tell two personal stories to illustrate Today's Wonderful Name of God. Some are very sad, but have a good ending, so please stay with me.

1. The Check: Most of you may know that I was widowed 13 years ago, when my husband took his own life. What you may not know was that he did it with a shotgun, and it did a lot of damage to our house. The Insurance Company gave me two checks, one made out to the HAZMAT Company which was fine, but the other was made out to me and the mortgage company which was in Hong Kong. I was in dispute with the bank due to predatory lending after Hurricane Katrina and Wilma, so they retaliated by putting my house in Foreclosure. I couldn't get them to sign off on the check, so I just ripped it up in disgust and installed new carpeting and repainted the walls and ceilings myself. I ended up short-selling the house and moving into an apartment with Lynn-Dah the dog, my Harley, my Recording Studio, which I dismantled and set up in one of the bedrooms, and continued to live my life.

Several years later, my brother called and said that Mom needed live-in help, so I gave everything away and moved back to Massachusetts, with the clothes on my back, my guitar, my Harley, and my dog (I think I could write a Country Song about that!), but, six days after arriving in Massachusetts, my Mom passed away. Now I needed somewhere to live.

Once again, the LORD provided, and I found a mobile home 11 houses away from my youngest sister. I knew she would be needing me, as her husband had been diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's, so I bought the trailer.

Half of my trailer had a flat rubber roof, which was collecting water, leaves, twigs, and branches and had become a swamp. I joked that I could raise alligators on my roof if I wanted to. A contractor named Jim(RIP) was very understanding of my design for a peaked roof with a mud room at the kitchen door that would also cover the deck and make it more like a front porch. He looked at my design and said he could do it for $12,000.

Well, I didn't have that kind of money, and was unsure of my credit rating after a short sale, (in those days, you couldn't just look it up), and I didn't think I could get a loan to do the work, but it HAD to be done.

Then I got a letter from the State of Florida. It had been seven years since the Insurance Company had sent me a check, and it had never been cashed. If I could prove that the Bank in Hong Kong no longer held the mortgage, the money would be all mine. I slaved over a hot copier photocopying every document of the Short Sale, the Predatory Loan, my husband's Death Certificate, and documents of the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma. A week later, the check arrived, made out to me alone, for...$12,000.

2. The Evil Dentist: Upon arrival in Massachusetts, I had to find a new doctor and a new dentist. The only one that took my Dental Plan was a guy nearby, who said I needed a new crown on a back molar. I applied for a special dental credit card to pay for it, was approved, and got the work done. Less than a week after the crown was put in, I noticed the margins opening up. I was so upset that I had now incurred a $1300 debt for shabby work. Well, you can bet I wouldn't be going back to that same dentist, and I registered a complaint with the credit card company. The contacted the evil dentist and he said that I hadn't complained to him, so there was nothing wrong with the tooth.

My new dentist confirmed that there were open margins, but dentists don't want to testify against one another so I was stuck. The State Board wouldn't help me and neither did the Council on aging. I asked my new dentist if he could just clean out the new decay and fill it with bondo. Well, guess what! That worked, and for less than a third of the price of a new crown. I felt quite victorious over that!

A couple of years later, my refrigerator died, and was going to cost a lot of money to replace. I calculated in my mind how I was going to be able to afford a new fridge...$1200 at LEAST. Then I got a letter in the mail.

It was from the credit card company who had reviewed my case and decided that the evil dentist HAD done a terrible job and it included a check for $1300, the exact amount for the new fridge, including installation and hauling away the old one.

3. The Student: It stated out seven years ago with a piano student. This little boy had the worst case of ADHD I had ever seen. He was very smart and talented musically, but didn't practice. I tried every trick in the book but I could not get him to practice, and so he never progressed. I finally got him to play chords and sing along, but that's not the same thing as piano lessons. I was starting to feel very inadequate as a teacher. Finally, his Mom and I agreed that the lessons were going nowhere, but it was difficult because, by that time we were like Family. I dreaded the evening that was going to be the last lesson. I also was concerned about the less money each week, and trying to find a new student to fill the gap.

During the week of the "Last Lesson", I gained three new students (word of mouth), Then, on the fateful evening of The Last Lesson, The student gave me a beautiful Gift (a stained glass orb ...a work of art), and his Mom gave me an envelope full of cash, what would have been payment for three months of lessons. All my worrying and angst had been for nothing.

Today's Name of God was given by Abraham, who had just been tested beyond what any sane person could endure. And yet, he had faith that somehow, Isaac, his beloved son, would survive the encounter. Either the sacrifice would be stopped, or God could raise Isaac from the Dead. When Isaac asked "Where is the lamb for the sacrifice?" Abraham answered, "God Himself will provide the Lamb."

And that's where we get Today's Name of God.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 37

Of David.

1 Do not fret because of the wicked;
do not be envious of wrongdoers,
2 for they will soon fade like the grass,
and wither like the green herb.

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
6 He will make your vindication shine like the light,
and the justice of your cause like the noonday.

7 Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
do not fret over those who prosper in their way,
over those who carry out evil devices.

8 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath.
Do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For the wicked shall be cut off,
but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.

10 Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look diligently for their place, they will not be there.
11 But the meek shall inherit the land,
and delight in abundant prosperity.

12 The wicked plot against the righteous,
and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he sees that their day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows
to bring down the poor and needy,
to kill those who walk uprightly;
15 their sword shall enter their own heart,
and their bows shall be broken.

16 Better is a little that the righteous person has
than the abundance of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous.

18 The Lord knows the days of the blameless,
and their heritage will abide for ever;
19 they are not put to shame in evil times,
in the days of famine they have abundance.

20 But the wicked perish,
and the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the pastures;
they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.

21 The wicked borrow, and do not pay back,
but the righteous are generous and keep giving;
22 for those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the land,
but those cursed by him shall be cut off.

23 Our steps* are made firm by the Lord,
when he delights in our* way;
24 though we stumble,* we* shall not fall headlong,
for the Lord holds us* by the hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old,
yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.
26 They are ever giving liberally and lending,
and their children become a blessing.

27 Depart from evil, and do good;
so you shall abide for ever.
28 For the Lord loves justice;
he will not forsake his faithful ones.

The righteous shall be kept safe for ever,
but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land,
and live in it for ever.

30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,
and their tongues speak justice.
31 The law of their God is in their hearts;
their steps do not slip.

32 The wicked watch for the righteous,
and seek to kill them.
33 The Lord will not abandon them to their power,
or let them be condemned when they are brought to trial.

34 Wait for the Lord, and keep to his way,
and he will exalt you to inherit the land;
you will look on the destruction of the wicked.

35 I have seen the wicked oppressing,
and towering like a cedar of Lebanon.*
36 Again I* passed by, and they were no more;
though I sought them, they could not be found.

37 Mark the blameless, and behold the upright,
for there is posterity for the peaceable.
38 But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed;
the posterity of the wicked shall be cut off.

39 The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
he is their refuge in the time of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and rescues them;
he rescues them from the wicked, and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.
