Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed, How Holy,
How Sanctified and Glorious is Your Most Wonderful Name
Your Wisdom and Your Ways Are So Beyond Ours,
Your Justice and Your Righteousness and Your Holiness,
So Infinite and Beyond Our Poor Understanding,
Leaves us Breathless!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

In the Late 1970's, Amy Grant had a Hit Song on the Contemporary Christian Charts called El Shaddai.
While Amy is not as popular in Christian Circles anymore, the song remains as a reminder of the Names of God. Today's Name, El Shaddai, is very ancient, and appears very early in the Book of Genesis. It is usually translated as "Almighty God" but means so much more than that.
The Hebrew root word for this Mighty Name is a surprisingly tender one. It is "shad" which means "breast', and points to the incredible miracle of a mother able to sustain her baby with milk from her own body. While this may make modern people a little embarrassed, in the desert, this aspect of anatomy meant the difference between life and death, both for a person's family, and his flocks. El Shaddai was not only MIGHTY, he was All-Sufficient. No other gods or goddesses are necessary when you have El Shaddai.
St. Paul echoes this article of Faith when he prayed and prayed to have a "thorn in his flesh" removed. He couldn't understand why he wasn't being successful in his prayer. Then he heard from God:
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV)
While most Bible Translations are content to translate El Shaddai as "God Almighty", He is so much more. The Name invokes, not just Power and Might, but Compassion, Tenderness, Provision, and Love.
And that's a perfect theme for Valentine's Day!

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem is actually praying for the return of Christ.
Since He is Peace, we are praying for Him to be present.
Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Psalm 28
Of David.
1 To you, O Lord, I call;
my rock, do not refuse to hear me,
for if you are silent to me,
I shall be like those who go down to the Pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplication,
as I cry to you for help,
as I lift up my hands
towards your most holy sanctuary.*
3 Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who are workers of evil,
who speak peace with their neighbours,
while mischief is in their hearts.
4 Repay them according to their work,
and according to the evil of their deeds;
repay them according to the work of their hands;
render them their due reward.
5 Because they do not regard the works of the Lord,
or the work of his hands,
he will break them down and build them up no more.
6 Blessed be the Lord,
for he has heard the sound of my pleadings.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts;
so I am helped, and my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people;
he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 O save your people, and bless your heritage;
be their shepherd, and carry them for ever.
