Luke 21:34 “But be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap [snare]; 35 for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth.
Jesus Christ warned his followers of the very real possibility that prior to His return we could be ensnared. A snare is a trap, or noose, carefully set to catch the unsuspecting. How could a Christian be ensnared?
What could possibly make God’s people vulnerable to the snare? The answer is in Jesus’ very warning to us. We are vulnerable because of being “weighed down” by worldly cares of finances, retirement, advancement, entertainment, social status, etc.
Christians are called to be sojourners and pilgrims, passing through this “world under judgment” in Biblical truth and faith. We are to raise our children with this same worldview, and teach them to watch and pray with us for escape.
When escape is needed, they will have the strength as well! However it is clear from Jesus’ warnings that a Christian’s focus can be shifted from hope in the coming of our Lord, and escaping the evil day, to the cares this life; the here and now. In the following paragraphs I list some of these snares.
Isaiah 24:17 Terror and pit and snare await you, o dwellers of the earth
A snare today for young Christians is joining the Military. What seems like an exciting way to serve the country, see the world, and gain college money, becomes a dangerous trap. How? Once young people sign the contract and swear in, they are ensnared. They become indentured servants, called Government Issues (GIs), completely dependent on Military for food, clothing, shelter, and pay.
They no longer have the freedom to choose what is right and wrong, where to go, or even what to think. They are under orders from their chain of command. If they do not follow orders and conform to the Military’s statutes, values, and ethics, they are under threat of violations of Military Justice.
If new conscripts refuse to receive experimental coercive medication, with unknown long-term impacts, they face court martial and possible imprisonment. If they do not use weapons of war to kill others in time of combat, refuse to participate in foreign wars supporting the Globalist New World Order, or refuse to participate in Pride Month celebrations, they face Military Justice. When the “Mark of the Beast” (Revelation 13) comes, all members of our increasingly antichristian Military will be forced to receive the “Mark” dutifully or face imprisonment (or worse). Christians can and should avoid this snare.
Jesus Christ our Lord has called us to be peacemakers. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal. We do no trust in horses and chariots, guns, and tanks. We are not warfighters for globalism, Islam, sodomy rights, abortion, or even Christian supremacy. Our Lord’s Kingdom is not of this World (John 18:36). As sojourners and pilgrims we pass through this antichristian world raising our children in faith in Him. Our citizenship is in the heavenly Kingdom that is appearing when our Lord Returns.
Another snare for many young people today is college debt. Students attending college are allowed almost unlimited access to federal monies for college loans. This has pushed America’s college loan bubble near 2 Trillion dollars with the average student debt around $50,000 dollars per student. It has become normal for students to assume hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debt.
Student debt differs from other types of debt in that it cannot be discharged in bankruptcy, and colleges have no skin in the Game. If a student borrows hundreds of thousands of dollars for a useless degree and cannot find a job, colleges still get paid. Students have no recourse if they are unable to pay the loan…except one: the Federal Perkins Loan Program.
What is the Federal Perkins Loan Program? It is a Government Program that permits Military soldiers on active duty in hostile fire or imminent danger to cancel up to 100% of their Federal Perkins Loans or National Direct Student Loans. So indebted students can either spend the rest of their lives in debt induced poverty, or become Stormtroopers for the Government!
There are also other financial snares. A soldier that serves the required 20+ years in the Military is able to retire with a full military pension. Indeed, they deserve these monies after putting themselves in harms way for for their country. However, what if that money falls under a new CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) and is now unavailable to the person unless they deny Christ and swear allegiance to a world system in opposition to Biblical Christianity?
What if they are required to receive a microchip implant in their hand or forehead for identification and tracking to receive their pension? How many people would have the strength to give up their only means of income?
The 2020-2021 COVID-19 pandemic was a preview of the scenarios above. We saw firsthand what many “Christians” would do when faced with the prospect of losing jobs, livelihood, savings, vacations, status, mobility, etc. Many were simply unwilling to give these things up and went along with Government coercion. In some cases, that choice has turned out to be a fatal mistake.
Psalm 141:9 “Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and from the traps of the workers of iniquity.”
There are many more snares like these, all set by the master trapper who knows the nature of man perhaps even better than we even know ourselves. He’s had 6,000 to perfect his craft of ensnaring men and women and children. He knows his time is short. He uses his proxy; flesh and blood people at the top of the kosmos hierarchy committed to implementing his stratagems. The are the leaders of Government, Foundations, and Corporate ladders who establish the institutions used to ensnare us.
Psalms 124:7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
