Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

The Scriptures In Handel’s Messiah

1 Corinthians 15:52-53

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

(King James Version)

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be Your Most Holy Name!
How We Long For Your Kingdom,
How We Wait For Your Will to be Done,
Here on Earth, as it Already is, in Heaven.

You Are Our Peace,
Our Wholeness, Our Shalom,
Our Security,
Our Prosperity,
and Our Future.
We are nothing without You..

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

While Acts One and Two of Handel's Messiah deal with the past, Act Three sings of the future.

Here's The Link.

At first, there is a mysterious-sounding solo as the Baritone sings, almost confidentially, "Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the Last Trumpet."(1 Corinthians 15:51-52) Then a Trumpet blares out in a fanfare that was familiar to the audience. In the Courtrooms of 18th Century England and Ireland the fanfare would be sounded as the Judge entered the Courtroom. We don't go THAT far in modern times, as the Bailiff just announces "ALL RISE" and the whole room stands in respect as the Judge enters.

However, the Baritone is singing about a Very Special Judge, the Judge of All Humanity.

As you watch the Video, you will see an awesome "dialogue" between the Trumpet Player and the Singer. The Fanfare weaves in and out of the Singer's words, and it is a remarkable display of skill and musicianship. You will also notice the strange old-fashioned Trumpet that has no valves. That is the kind of Trumpet that would have been in use in Handel's day. I love it when Messiah" is performed with Period Instruments.

Like the rest of "Messiah", the lyrics are straight Scripture, with just some wording from The Book of Common Prayer. That is why the posted Scripture doesn't always line up exactly with the lyrics.

Most Christians do not dispute the Event that is being discussed in this piece. After all, it IS Scripture. However, many argue about not "if" but "when". Since people have been arguing about "when" for 2000 years, I will not venture a guess. But, since it could be anytime, I also want to be READY when it happens.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

The Greatest of These is Love (1 Corinthians 13)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 73

A Psalm of Asaph.

1 Truly God is good to the upright,*
to those who are pure in heart.
2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled;
my steps had nearly slipped.
3 For I was envious of the arrogant;
I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4 For they have no pain;
their bodies are sound and sleek.
5 They are not in trouble as others are;
they are not plagued like other people.
6 Therefore pride is their necklace;
violence covers them like a garment.
7 Their eyes swell out with fatness;
their hearts overflow with follies.
8 They scoff and speak with malice;
loftily they threaten oppression.
9 They set their mouths against heaven,
and their tongues range over the earth.

10 Therefore the people turn and praise them,*
and find no fault in them.*
11 And they say, ‘How can God know?
Is there knowledge in the Most High?’
12 Such are the wicked;
always at ease, they increase in riches.
13 All in vain I have kept my heart clean
and washed my hands in innocence.
14 For all day long I have been plagued,
and am punished every morning.

15 If I had said, ‘I will talk on in this way’,
I would have been untrue to the circle of your children.
16 But when I thought how to understand this,
it seemed to me a wearisome task,
17 until I went into the sanctuary of God;
then I perceived their end.
18 Truly you set them in slippery places;
you make them fall to ruin.
19 How they are destroyed in a moment,
swept away utterly by terrors!
20 They are* like a dream when one awakes;
on awaking you despise their phantoms.

21 When my soul was embittered,
when I was pricked in heart,
22 I was stupid and ignorant;
I was like a brute beast towards you.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with you;
you hold my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterwards you will receive me with honour.*
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire other than you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength* of my heart and my portion for ever.

27 Indeed, those who are far from you will perish;
you put an end to those who are false to you.
28 But for me it is good to be near God;
I have made the Lord God my refuge,
to tell of all your works.
