Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Heavenly Father,
How Wonderful is Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
How We Love to Sing Your Praises,
How we love to give You The Glory.
Rock of Ages,
Our Strength and our Song
Our Refuge in Times of Trouble,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Anyone who has followed this Thread for any length of time knows that I am fascinated by Archaeology. The Indiana Jones Movies have made Archaeology a Romantic, Swashbuckling Adventure, but it is not really like the movies. Spectacular Finds, like an intact Egyptian Tomb, or Coins From the Time of King David, or even The Ark of the Covenant, are very rare. Mostly, Archaeology consists of unearthing little tiny shards of pottery.
"What's the use of that?" you may ask.
For one thing, pottery is one of the oldest crafts known to mankind. Basketry may be older, but baskets don't last thousands of years...pottery does. A little shard of pottery can tell us many things about the Lost World from which it came. The style, the type of clay, the adornment, and whether or not the pottery is glazed, tells us about the Civilization's progress, level of technical achievement, culture, religion and other clues bound up in the clay. Since pottery was invented before paper, there are often inscriptions engraved on the surface, everything from prayers and spells to invoices and ledgers. An Archaeologist could spend her whole career digging up, cleaning, and interpreting little shards of pottery.
One of the best digs for finding these shards is a site that had been a Latrine, a Kitchen Dump, or a Gravesite. Broken pots went right into the trash, because it was easy to make a new vessel from local materials. Centuries later, when the refuse has decomposed and gone back into the soil, the pottery shards are there for the digging, and what a story they can tell!
We may think that little bits of pottery are for Ancient Times, or maybe a Hippie Artist's Studio, but did you know that Superconductors are made of Ceramic? Once again, little tiny, humble, bits of pottery contain mountains of information about our Civilization, Culture, and Technology.
In this Passage of Scripture, the Psalmist speaks of God "breaking them with a rod of iron, and dashing them to pieces like a potter's vessel.." The "Them" referred to here are the Kings, Oligarchs, Dictators, and Powerful People who want to be "gods" and rule the earth. The One doing the "breaking" is the King of the Universe, or more specifically, His SON (Psalm 2). Remember, this is Old Testament. Who is this "Son"? Tomorrow, we shall find out.

They sure get excited about pottery on The Curse of Oak Island.
I was there in 1973, and they would get excited about the smallest things, even back then.

Psalm 143
A Psalm of David.
1 Hear my prayer, O Lord;
give ear to my supplications in your faithfulness;
answer me in your righteousness.
2 Do not enter into judgement with your servant,
for no one living is righteous before you.
3 For the enemy has pursued me,
crushing my life to the ground,
making me sit in darkness like those long dead.
4 Therefore my spirit faints within me;
my heart within me is appalled.
5 I remember the days of old,
I think about all your deeds,
I meditate on the works of your hands.
6 I stretch out my hands to you;
my soul thirsts for you like a parched land.
Selah
7 Answer me quickly, O Lord;
my spirit fails.
Do not hide your face from me,
or I shall be like those who go down to the Pit.
8 Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning,
for in you I put my trust.
Teach me the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.
9 Save me, O Lord, from my enemies;
I have fled to you for refuge.*
10 Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
Let your good spirit lead me
on a level path.
11 For your name’s sake, O Lord, preserve my life.
In your righteousness bring me out of trouble.
12 In your steadfast love cut off my enemies,
and destroy all my adversaries,
for I am your servant.
