Israelites certainly had a lot of problems with idol worship.
Golden Calf, Burning their children to Molech, Asherah poles, Temple prostitutes.................
In a larger sense, did they not make the Law into an idol?
Everybody has problems with idol worship. Israel was just featured in the Bible as God's people to teach others what God required to please Him.
In Gen 48, Jacob, who was renamed "Israel", adopted 2 Gentile children from Joseph as his own sons in order to give them access to the Promised Land. Joseph was a type and shadow of Jesus who married an Egyptian woman and produced 2 Gentile children. Gentiles can only be adopted into Israel through the blessing of the cross to qualify for a home in the Promised Land. Jesus will marry a Gentile Bride that comes through the blessing of the cross in order to go to Heaven. As far as I know, there is no examples of a covenant made with a Gentile in Scripture. You must be adopted by "Israel" to qualify for property in the Kingdom. Israel is the example needed for study to follow the teachings God wants us to learn. God is not a respecter of persons. Everybody is judged on the same principles. Idol worship is a problem with all peoples. Look to the cross to be healed and see that Jesus became sin on the cross for our salvation.
