Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

The Scriptures In Handel’s Messiah
Psalm 2:1-2
1. Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Bless the LORD,
Oh My Soul,
and let All That is Within Me Bless His Most Holy Name!
Abba, Father,
We Praise and Worship You
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
As the Nations Rage So Furiously Against You
And Against Your People,
We Know That You Are Our Shelter,
Our Strength and our Song
Our Refuge in Times of Trouble,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

First of all, Here is The Link. (This Guy is Terrific!)
The most requested Original Song on Open Mike Nite is one I wrote years ago in the 90's. It is a song about riding my Harley on Historic Route 66.(Lyrics on my Home page)
Last night, I saw that there was a video online of the exact journey I wanted to take, only in reverse, from California to Illinois. I settled in for an hour and a half of what I thought was going to be a Virtual Reality Tour of my Dream Bike Trip, and was confronted by miles and miles of ruins covered in graffiti. Some of the iconic "Dust Bowl" Architecture was still visible, but everything was in ruins. It was so depressing. "Hang On", I said to myself. "Perhaps it will get better the further I go from LA, after all, this IS California." But, Arizona and New Mexico were no different. The Narrator seemed excited by the abandoned ruins and graffiti, but, to me, it just showed decay, neglect, and disrespect. There were remnants of Classic Cars, and Famous Landmarks, but even these were in graffitti-covered ruins. "Fort Courage" (named after the F-Troop TV Show), The Pancake House, and the Cadillac Ranch (an Art Installation of 10 Old Cadillac Cars) were all covered in spray paint, with bad art and obscenities everywhere. I have no idea when Vandalism became "Art", but it was probably by the end of the Twentieth Century.
Meanwhile, as the Narrator was waxing Rhapsodic about these "cool" ruins and "awesome" artwork, I was getting more and more depressed.
"Texas will be better! I said to myself. "Texas wouldn't put up with this cr@p!"
But Texas was no better: Miles and miles of desert pockmarked with ruins, covered with spray paint. As the road went into Oklahoma, a State that prides itself in its Association with Route 66 and its History, there was more of the same. I turned it off. I couldn't take anymore. I will still sing my song, but it isn't the same. It is now an artifact, like the "Old Motels on the Auction Block" of Route 66.
You may wonder what this has to do with Today's Scripture. It is the first two lines of Psalm 2 "Why do the Nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing?". King David, the Psalmist, could have been writing about our own times. Although they didn't have the term "Gaslighting" in King David's time, his lyrics describe a scene where rage, vanity, and lies are the norm. Isaiah described it as "calling good evil, and evil, good" (Isaiah 5:20), and in our own time, Plagiarism is called "Research", Vandalism is called "Art", and Artificial Intelligence is considered "Wisdom".
While I don't expect the government to preserve the entire length of Route 66 as a National Historical Park like they did with a large part of New Bedford, it boggles the mind that someone would drive 500 miles into an empty desert to spray paint a four-letter word on a crumbling building and call it "Art".
That is "Gaslighting" of the First Magnitude.

Very sad about Route 66, I guess it is a memory only in songs.
Joining in prayer. God bless.

Psalm 65
To the leader. A Psalm of David. A Song.
1 Praise is due to you,
O God, in Zion;
and to you shall vows be performed,
2 O you who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.
5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your* strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.
9 You visit the earth and water it,
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.
