Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Bless the LORD,
Oh My Soul,
and let All That is Within Me Bless His Most Holy Name!
Abba Father, Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God!
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Rock of All Ages!
It is You, and You Alone,
Who Created All Things,
And You Alone Who Know The End from The Beginning,
And the Beginning from The End.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

There were a number of videos of this brief song, both by Tenors and Sopranos. This is the one I liked best: LINK

With just one line from Psalm 16 (Verse 10), David the Psalmist predicts the Resurrection of the Messiah. One would have thought that this would be where Jennens and Handel would have placed the Famous Hallelujah Chorus. But, no. This little two-minute air is #32, and the Hallelujah Chorus is #44 in the Vocal Score.

Act One is made up of just some of the Old Testament Prophecies regarding the Birth of the Messiah. Mostly from Isaiah, there are also some quotations from Haggai, Zehariah and Psalms. (Why Jennens left out Micah 5:2 is a mystery to me. I was sure to include it in my own Christmas Cantata in 1989, and it was the Prophecy that led the Magi to Baby Jesus!)

Act Two chronicles the Ministry of Jesus, His Death, Burial, and Resurrection. It also covers His Ascension, and His Welcoming, into Heaven. That's where the Hallelujah Chorus comes in. The Lyrics of that incredibly famous Chorus are from the Book of Revelation. When John of Patmos had his staggering Vision that became that difficult Book, he saw a Vision of Jesus, portrayed as a Lamb that had been slain, sitting on a Throne. The symbolism showed the Kingship of Jesus without omitting His Sacrifice for our sin. I attempted to go through Revelation just ONCE in the 13 years of this Thread. It was a LOT of work!

Act Three is about the Ministry of the Apostles, The End of Days, and the Final Scene when the Dead are Raised for the Great White Throne Judgment.

There are still a lot of Old Testament Scriptures in Act Three, but it is dominated by the Book of Revelation and the Letters of Paul.

Some Bible Teachers have only focused on the Book of Revelation since the mid-Twentieth Century, due to the establishment of the modern State Of Israel in 1948. Handel's Messiah, on the other hand, shows that this difficult Book has been on the mind of Christians for a very long time.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 3

A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom.

1 O Lord, how many are my foes!
Many are rising against me;
2 many are saying to me,
‘There is no help for you* in God.’
Selah

3 But you, O Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
4 I cry aloud to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy hill.
Selah

5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, for the Lord sustains me.
6 I am not afraid of tens of thousands of people
who have set themselves against me all around.

7 Rise up, O Lord!
Deliver me, O my God!
For you strike all my enemies on the cheek;
you break the teeth of the wicked.

8 Deliverance belongs to the Lord;
may your blessing be on your people!
Selah
