Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

The Scriptures In Handel’s Messiah

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Heavenly Father,
How Wonderful is Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
How We Love to Sing Your Praises,
How we love to give You The Glory.
Rock of Ages,
Our Strength and our Song
Our Refuge in Times of Trouble,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

We are back to Isaiah 53 and its remarkable Prophecy concerning the Death of Jesus. It takes some serious gymnastics to teach that this Passage is NOT about the Messiah. Some Scholars equate these difficult Verses with the Sufferings of Israel, or of the Jewish People throughout History. While I would not venture to argue with Hebrew Scholars about the meanings of words in a Language that is not my own, I can see how one or two verses might seem to point that way. However, the general direction of the context points to a Substitutionary Atonement, that is, an Innocent Person dying for the Sins of the Guilty. One can not die for the sins of another unless he has atoned for his OWN sins first.

Other Scholars speculated that these verses were written by a different "Isaiah", and snuck into the Scriptures later to justify the belief in a Suffering Messiah. That idea was extinguished with the Discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1948. (People have been arguing over this for a long time!).

Another theory about the Suffering Messiah is that there will be a Messiah Ben Yosef in the End of Days. Like the Patriarch Joseph, who suffered terribly at the hands of his own Brothers, this Messiah would also suffer.

In any case, Mr. Jennens didn't even have to quote the Gospels to give us an account of the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of the Messiah. The Old Testament Scriptures were enough to tell the Story. Here's The Link.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Psalm 5

To the leader: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.

1 Give ear to my words, O Lord;
give heed to my sighing.
2 Listen to the sound of my cry,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
3 O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch.

4 For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
evil will not sojourn with you.
5 The boastful will not stand before your eyes;
you hate all evildoers.
6 You destroy those who speak lies;
the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.

7 But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
will enter your house,
I will bow down towards your holy temple
in awe of you.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness
because of my enemies;
make your way straight before me.

9 For there is no truth in their mouths;
their hearts are destruction;
their throats are open graves;
they flatter with their tongues.
10 Make them bear their guilt, O God;
let them fall by their own counsels;
because of their many transgressions cast them out,
for they have rebelled against you.

11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
so that those who love your name may exult in you.
12 For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you cover them with favor as with a shield.
