Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Dear Father in Heaven
Thank You For Creating Us,
And For Being Our Shepherd.
Thank You For giving us the Choice to take up Your Yoke.
Thank You For The Yoke Being Easy, and Your Burden Light.
ThankYou For Being Our Shepherd
Thank You For Gently Leading Us,
And For Keeping Us Safe From the Enemy of Our Souls.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 1:29
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
(King James Version)
______________________________________________
Jesus's slightly older cousin John knew who Jesus was while he was still in his mother's womb! (Luke 1:39-45). This not only is an affirmation of the Messiahship of Jesus, but also of the Life and Personality of the Pre-Born Baby. Artists (such as Raphael and Michelangelo) have speculated that the Cousins played together as children, but it's a long way from Nazareth to Jerusalem. It is possible that they visited on the yearly mandatory pilgrimage to Jerusalem, but that is just speculation. The Bible is remarkably silent about the boyhood of Jesus (except for that incident in the Temple depicted in Luke 2:41-52) so we can only assume that Jesus and John knew each other, but not much else.
Now, suddenly, they meet again, and they are both in their thirties. John has been ministering a Message of Repentance, which includes a ritual immersion in water. In Hebrew, this is called a Mikvah, and was very common. Archaeologists are always digging up these ritual baths, at Qumran, Masada, and Jerusalem.
John's Message is one of Fire and Brimstone, urging repentance from sin to avoid the Coming Wrath. But, in the Jewish Religion of the Time, repentance wasn't enough, nor was a ritual bath sufficient to atone for sin. There had to be a Sacrifice, which was usually a Lamb. That Lamb had to be without blemish and innocent.
Jesus shows up and John recognizes Him immediately. However, John doesn't greet Jesus as his long-lost cousin from Nazareth. He calls Jesus The "Lamb of God".
We Now Begin ACT TWO of Handel's Messiah. If Act One is known as the "Christmas Section", then Act Two is the "Good Friday/Easter" Section.
It opens with a solemn chorus quoting John The Baptist, who pointed out Jesus of Nazareth in a crowd and said, "Behold the Lamb of God."
In Ancient Israel, a lamb had immediate significance, as it was the Passover Sacrifice that identified the Jews, and saved them from the Angel of Death. In the Tabernacle, and later in the Temple, a lamb was the Sacrifice for The Holy Days, and was also included in the daily sacrificial system.
A lamb also symbolized the next generation of a family's wealth, as the Israelites had always been shepherds. John's statement must have truly puzzled his adherents. How can a Man be a Lamb?

Psalm 116
1 I love the Lord, because he has heard
my voice and my supplications.
2 Because he inclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
3 The snares of death encompassed me;
the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
I suffered distress and anguish.
4 Then I called on the name of the Lord:
‘O Lord, I pray, save my life!’
5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
our God is merciful.
6 The Lord protects the simple;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
7 Return, O my soul, to your rest,
for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
8 For you have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling.
9 I walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.
10 I kept my faith, even when I said,
‘I am greatly afflicted’;
11 I said in my consternation,
‘Everyone is a liar.’
12 What shall I return to the Lord
for all his bounty to me?
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord,
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his faithful ones.
16 O Lord, I am your servant;
I am your servant, the child of your serving-maid.
You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to you a thanksgiving sacrifice
and call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of the house of the Lord,
in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!

Lord, we pray for the Christians who live in countries that are hostile to Christianity.
We pray that they remain strong in You.

Indeed. The persecution of Christians doesn’t make the news but it’s going on, especially in moslem countries.

Currently,in one of the African countries, they are actively hunting down Christians.
I sometimes wonder if that is going to start happening here - in our lifetimes.
