Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

The Scriptures In Handel’s Messiah

Malachi 3:2

2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Wonderful You Are!
Thank You For Your Word,
Which Gives Us Such a Mighty Foresight into Your Plan!
Thank You For the Inspiration that Comes
From Listening to Your Voice.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

The King James Version

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, was a different place in 1992 than it is today. Known at the time as the location of Richard Burton's secret hideaway with Liz, it was generally unspoiled when I was blessed to visit there in October of that year. The Town had all the modern conveniences, but a little horseback ride into the mountains revealed People living as their ancestors did, hundreds of years ago.

Our room was equipped with a kitchen, so we went to the "El Gigante" Supermarket to get supplies.

There, in the middle of the store, was a huge pyramid of yellow bricks. They were unwrapped, unlabeled, and unadorned. People in Native Clothes were grabbing them and putting them into their baskets. Some were not even buying food, they were just gathering up a couple of yellow bricks and heading up to the register. It was totally weird.

The next day, we went horseback riding up into the Sierra Madre. It was like taking a trip back to the 18th Century. (I have to admit, I was taken aback by the poverty I saw) and the guide told us we would have to go downstream a bit to ford the river. There, in the shallows of the river, were about a dozen women washing their clothes in the river and drying them on the rocks. And there were the big yellow bricks. It was LAUNDRY SOAP!.

I can only imagine how harsh this soap was. No perfume, no fabric softeners, and made the old-fashioned way, with Lye. This is the "Fuller's Soap" referred to in this Passage from the Minor Prophet Malachi, and it is linked with another harsh purifying process, The Refiner's Fire.

The link contains a "scene" of the Haggai and Malachi Scriptures, and, in my humble opinion, the Voices in this clip are really excellent.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 4

To the leader: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

1 Answer me when I call, O God of my right!
You gave me room when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me, and hear my prayer.

2 How long, you people, shall my honour suffer shame?
How long will you love vain words, and seek after lies?
Selah
3 But know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.

4 When you are disturbed,* do not sin;
ponder it on your beds, and be silent.
Selah
5 Offer right sacrifices,
and put your trust in the Lord.

6 There are many who say, ‘O that we might see some good!
Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord!’
7 You have put gladness in my heart
more than when their grain and wine abound.

8 I will both lie down and sleep in peace;
for you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety.
